At 17 years of age it would not have damaged my psyche one bit to have been this woman's sexual partner, assuming I engaged voluntarily and without coercion of any kind.
I'm not saying it's behavior to encourage or condone. I get that if it's a teacher-student thing that a power differential has been exploited. Someone should be fired, of course, in that situation.
But prison?
What exactly is the damage that she's being punished for?
For years growning up, I thought the same. "Oh please, Ms. Johnson, keep me after school !"
Then I learned of real cases where the young men were frick'd up after having sexual relationships. So yes, what's good for the gander, is good for the goose.
Of course, in almost all cases, the 'goose' can have another career on Only Fans. The gander... not so much.
(BTW, it is a function of our clown world in which many of these educators today are female. When most of us were younger, if and when it occurred, it was almost always a male teacher)

Let's keep it in context. She wasn't "his teacher". She was a substitute teacher, which in most high schools is basically just an adult in the community who agrees to come in and babysit for the day for low wages. As a substitute, she really didn't have any power or control over him as far as the class goes. The substitute can't impact his grade. Furthermore, the felony was sexual abuse by a school employee...not statutory rape. In other words, had she been a cashier at Walmart, no laws would have been broken. He was above the age of consent. Should she lose her job as a substitute? Sure. But is she really an authority figure in the same sense that a teacher or coach is? I don't think so.

Two and it's only anecdotal but it changed my thinking [just like my view of abortion evolved from when I was 17].
1 - The older of the two, happened with the wife of the schoolmaster at a parochial high school back in MS the 70's to a relative [I just didn't know about it until much later].
2 - Happened in the mid 80's when I was in high school, here in the Birmingham area, with school assistant.
Both ended up end in therapy [nearly now for life]. Broken relationships, including marriages, trust issues, you name it.

It always makes me think of the most famous case, in our lifetime... Mary Kay Letourneau ( Wiki) who made out with that young 12 yo, because they were 'in love'. Even when released from prison, she was caught back with the young man forced to serve a prison term for ~ 6 years. She is deceased now.

I simply can't fathom how embarrassing or emasculating it would be to have your wife/girlfriend cheat with a teen student. I can't imagine a bigger embarrassment? Is there one?
