Mixture of him and his brother joey who recently got out of jail for being a bookie.

The circle around the Edwards--amazing they have avoided scrutiny before now.
Of course all kinds of crap was going on when Frank was sheriff.

I agree with you on that. I would look more towards Perriloux as being someone being looked into as well.
Posted on 12/17/16 at 1:26 pm to XxxSpooky1
I hear the Edwards "machine" was contemplating running their nephew or I guess nephew in law against Perriloux. I thought they were all buddies.

If Perriloux retires, you will see Sherman Mack, Parker Layrisson, and probably Jeff Johnson running for DA.

Parker may think he can get elected but he has managed to anger just about everybody getting involved in petty issues that he really should have just stayed out of. He should forget politics.
I would rather somebody else besides those three or the rumored Edwards guy Stevens.

I can agree with that. Him getting involved in his brothers problems with PPD is embarrassing.

Daniel may not be a target in this case but there is no way at all he's completely clean. The edwards clan has been Tangi parish law enforcement forever and that's bound to have some crooked shenanigans associated with it.

Not really forever. His dad was elected Sheriff 3 times before Eddie Layrisson took over, and like a fool they tried to run Tim Gideon for Sheriff against Daniel when Eddie retired, and lost their asses off.

It's probably all just a big misunderstandment.

I have to wonder if maybe AG Jeff Landry found some dirt on the Edwards shady practices as sheriff and passed it along to the feds. That way, he could avoid looking political by prosecuting the governor's family, but still is able to significantly weaken the incombent for when Landry runs for governor in 2019.
Landry was elected AG last year, reports have said this is a two year investigation. So unless Buddy Caldwell was just sitting on this and didn't do anything about it and Jeff saw it after he took office, math doesn't work here.

Once again the Fed is having to do our housekeeping because the state simply will not prosecute or even investigate local corruption it seems.

Is this true? The FBI went in drawn?
If so, wow.

But the system also has its dangers. It is not always a meritocracy. The nominations are open to political influence. There are no consistent standards for nominations. The requirement that each congressional district be represented means that better candidates in more competitive districts sometimes lose out.

That would be par for the course for Buddy, actually. The guy was completely in the pocket of the sheriff's association and the trial lawyers, Jon Bel Edwards's two most ardent bases of support.
