The seven-year rape investigation against the founder of Wikileaks has been dropped. Assange has lived in London's Ecuadorean embassy for the past five years.

FYI, he's still unable to leave the embassy because of extradition requests to the US AND he's got a warrant in the UK for essentially bail jumping.

He's still a dead man walking and will be for the rest of his life. Sucks that a saint has a target on his back from our government.

Assange is not a saint.

Hopefully he can finally start to live under other conditions in the near future with this rape case dropped.

is it not slightly weird that Trump runs on emptying the swamp, yet hasn't gotten rid of all of the stuff against Assange now that he has absolute power? He has even come out in support of WikiLeaks

I'm really getting tired of the lack of "draining the swamp" - if he would actually do what he promised maybe he wouldn't be as hated by certain people like myself

This is not absolute power. This is barely do anything power. If you want the swamp actually drained you are going to need to get more pro-Trump congressmen in at midterms. Trump can't do very much of permanence on his own apart from overthrowing the government with military support.

Much of the swamp is situated in the executive branch. Trump has power over all that, and can get rid of and replace them. He has not.

I said permanence for a reason. While Trump can some of the executive branch a lot of what Trump could change can easily be changed back by the next president. We need change in the judicial and legislative branches for more permanence.

Trump didn't want to be president unless he thought it absolutely necessary for the country. He is going for long term reform, not short term feels. Trump is going for macro change. You can obviously see the old guard knows what Trump intends and they do not want it to happen.
