Physical labor jobs are often associated with republicans, such as farming and construction work. Makes a lot of sense.

There is plenty of evidence which indicates people with more conservative beliefs tend to have lower IQ scores. I think it's more likely that high intellect correlates with moderate/centrist political affiliation, though, when controlling for education and SES.
