Actually white people cant be racist because racism is rooted in power. White people weren't kangz and they're descended from Neanderthals and they get sunburned plus they're forced to work all the time and give up most of what they make to the government

Like, you can join the discussion. I won't make you feel stupid. If you have an argument then make it. I've been perfectly reasonable.

Why only the statues and monuments of white people are the only ones coming down?? If they truely want equality and diversity then shouldn't they all come down, or be left in place?

VOR posted a picture (or actually someone else did it for him because he failed at doing so) of a statue of an old black man in Natchitoches that he says is no longer there. I think it might have been Uncle Remus, but I'm not sure. I asked him who it was, and got no response.

They could blow the carving away and do something else. Most of what the show is about is done with lasers and fireworks. The way things are going now, I wouldnl't be surprised to see some bitching about it soon.

They'd have to stop playing the Elvis rendition of "Dixie" during the show and i have to admit that would suck cuz it gets me a little choked up when i hear it.

I haven't been in a while to the actual laser show but to other parts of the park. It would still make lots of money. I should also mention that I don't condone doing this, I just see it happening with all the SJW pressure.

Atlanta, Stone Mountain...no difference.

that is literally what ISIS just did in Syria with all those historic monuments
Literally, ISIS put it to a vote, and then proceeded with an orderly deconstruction based on the result of that vote? Link?

Well, ISIS does behead people for shits and giggles so they operate a tad bit differently. They cut a few corners to speed up the process a little.

Thus rendering the entire comparison absurd.

A big part of the "optics" argument often seems to be that the events don't have to be logically connected in reality.

Very far from it!! Whatever makes you feel better about yourself. That's the best you could come up with? You really are sad.

I just don't know any other types of people that would go look in awe at confederate soldiers.

How about the pyramids?? or the Coliseum?? or the Great Wall?? Should the US insist that those be torn down? - or preclude any citizen to go visit them? - or sanction their goats?? Where does it end??

The fact that a mental disease has infected a large part of the political divide in the past 50 years should not prompt some quack 'cure' for their ailment. You are obviously aware that taking down these monuments is not going to do one thing to alleviate the underlying grievance that the radical leftwing claims is promoting this inanity.

You KNOW it is merely a political maneuver having absolutely nothing to do with any real modern issue. You could flatten Stone Mountain and make road rabble out of all monuments and rename all streets and buildings in the whole nation and you'd still be left with the exact same 'grievances' as you have now - not one black would be in a better position economically, socially, emotionally, or academically. Not one.

This entire bullshite has reached comedic levels of stupidity. you know it and you should be embarrassed by it.

I am amazed at all of the black confederates who fill the lawn for the laser show every night during the summer.

That's what I was wondering. The last time I was there it didn't seem to be racially divisive for those young men and women of both races cruising around the park having a good time. A statue of Robert E. Lee is only as racist as one let's it be.

I think those were all religious monuments, not racist monuments.
