I remember reading that it's protected under an act of the Georgia congress or something.

ETA: “Stone Mountain is set up and preserved by state law as a Confederate memorial. In fact, the law that changed the state flag expressly prohibited any changes at Stone Mountain Park.”

Always thought the mountain/rock itself was cool and hated that someone had to go carve shite on it.

The site of the founding of the second KKK? That stone mountain?

Look, I think you're really barking up the wrong tree trying to say that it's not rooted in racism. I don't care if they white wash this or not, but I really can only see one side's POV actually having a point. Unfortunately I would imagine this eventually gets taken down somehow.

Yeah likely. But considering that monument generates revenue for teh state it might take longer.

Not going to happen. The work is better than. Mount Rushmore regardless of the subject matter. Furthermore given that all of the people on Rushmore were slave owners or at least people who believed blacks were inferior to the white man( Abraham Lincoln). It should go first

I'm hardly a moron, maybe I misunderstand why you mock why this would get taken down? I just don't know any other types of people that would go look in awe at confederate soldiers. I apologize for jumping to the conclusion that you had an argument against it.

You should care

It is a really, really bad precedent to remove historical objects or monuments based off current morality

I didn't mock anything. Just saying it's the biggest confederate monument on earth. I think the fact that anything was carved into such a natural beautiful place is trashy. I don't want to see any more damage done to the mountain than has already been done.
