Article is not written by a libertarian or liberal

quote:

Effectively, this means raising tariffs, subsidizing American businesses, and shutting down as much immigration as possible. Which, of course, would end up destroying jobs. But at least it would be “nationalist.” Economic nationalism has a long and inglorious history, and is nearly inseparable from big government interventionism. Bannon wants to embrace that legacy and throw away classical liberalism, the most powerful force for human freedom and prosperity in history, in the process.

quote:

Jacksonian populism wasn’t based on federal overreach. It was based on killing federal government intervention in the economy and reverting such spending back to the states. Trillion dollar infrastructure plans have been tried before, and they’ve failed before. The 1930s, for those who missed it, were not an exciting time – they were a time of serious economic deprivation, accompanied by skyrocketing taxes and spending, and massive government works projects that sucked all momentum out of the economy to redirect it to federal priorities. "We're just going to throw it up against the wall and see if it sticks" could come right from FDR's failed playbook.

Meh, those 1930s idiots were on the gold standard. We are much smarter now and just create money out of thin air. There's plenty to go around for everything.

I really like Shapiro, and I staunchly beleive in free trade, but anyone arguing we have something resembling free trade with China is out of their fricking mind.

We should label them a currency manipulator and slap tarrifs on them on January 21st as directed by our current trade agreements.

See, this is one of many reasons why I am still puzzled by the hate DJT receives from the left.

1st, we didn't elect Bannon but #NeverTrump fell flat on its face so now they have turned their "I'm a true conservative" virtue signaling onto Bannon and the new #BannonBoogieMan campaign.

Grow up, take your lumps and STFU. Thanks.

Tiny Ben Shapiro threw away an influential slot in the Trump admin to white knight for top heavy and lying floozy Michelle Fields.

He has been as wrong as fellow Israel First neocon Bill Kristol re: Trump

You think we actually have to pay for this? That's funny.

shite. They elected what is basically a just left of center candidate for POTUS. He's an "old school" Democrat, basically.

And if he can get the "republican" congress and senate to vote with him.....LOLOLOLOL

Either way, I'm still glad its not Hillary.

Trump has saved the first and second amendments for at least 12 years and probably much longer - take your "principled conservative" virtue signaling elsewhere

i mean i get what you're saying, but

...

isn't that their political philosophy?

you don't think that they opposed Trump, at least in small part, because of this conflict?

he's not calling Bannon a nasty name (i think Shapiro, a Jew, has come out and publicly defended him fully on this witch hunt). he's discussing policies

You could call it national big government in order to avoid global super big government.

so we can't discuss proposed policies or actual policies outside of this?

i basically asked josh this the other day when he told me that drug/CAF policy was irrelevant and the only goal was "Combatting multiculturalism". so when/if Trump proposes bad policy, we should just all ignore it?
