Yikes. I don't understand why you would want to eliminate this deduction.

I've never understood how people could vote on an increase to property tax, when they don't own property. That seems like taxation without representation to me.
While Louisiana has historically had very low property taxes, the income tax sucks. Take a couple in Louisiana earning $400k a year and a $500k house. Take out a personal exemption and federal taxes and they owe, what? 6% on the balance and about $2k on property tax? Sound about right?
In Texas, same scenario: 0% income tax and about $12k in property tax, half what they'd pay in Louisiana. Those dollars go into the economy and help keep it stimulated, which enables the state to keep the overall tax burden relatively low.
Of course, additional explaining is necessary to describe how Texas does more with less: Texas manages the graft and corruption a little better than Louisiana which doesn't manage it at all. Too many fingers in the pie.

Middle class voters that went trump this election in Wisconsin Michigan ohio that lose money on this will not favor it.

realize the situation as opposed to Clinton voters. Don't be so sure of what you think Trump voters will or will not do.

It will sting a little, but it will be worth it to see people in NY, CA, Conn., etc. "pay their fair share."
Louisiana gets far more in federal dollars than it pays. When will its citizens pay their fair share??

Agreed. We should cut the program that delivers most of those federal dollars, right?
You don't even understand how your argument defeats itself, do you?

One of the other big issues of debt and waste is the spend it or lose it policy in government. Then they waste it and ask for a budget increase the next year. We need to find a way to budget differently and budget forecasting has to become more accurate as well.

Not at all. I agree that we should cut food stamps, flood insurance, long term unemployment, government regulation, etc.

I have advocated the removal of this tax deduction for a long time (when combined with a rate drop to make it net neutral).
Having the state and local tax deduction places a strong incentive towards socialist high-tax / big government policies at the local level.
It is very much like the 401k employer match with the feds providing a ~25% match for local taxes. Currently, a state can increase the total dollars in the state by raising taxes, since for every dollar they tax that is less money leaving the state to go to Washington DC.
Just watch. this will change the political dynamics at the local level and will push everyone towards republican ideals.

No, we're overfunded if we can afford all these tax breaks for every little thing. IRL, you don't give money to someone that you don't have, so why should the government?

What the hell does that have to do with what I said. I see you didn't respond to my statement about fudging. So, do you cheat on your taxes?

Tax breaks are not the government "giving" anybody shite. It is the government letting certain people keep more of their own money. None of it is the government's money.

Screw Cali and anyone dumb enough to still live there. Pass the reform, put money in the pockets of working Americans, grow the economy, and get drunk on liberal tears!
