She's a 24 year old woman who fled north Korea at age 14 and describes the unbelievable oppression which exists there.
She describes people being executed for making an unapproved international phone call, being killed for watching a hollywood movie, multiple generations of an entire family being executed for a single member murmering doubts about the regime, how she used to believe the dictator could read everyone's thoughts, how there is only one television station in North Korea and it only shows propaganda films about the dictators, not even a single love story. No one is allowed to sing or dance or think out of turn and without permission.
Unspeakable oppression.
She describes people being executed for making an unapproved international phone call, being killed for watching a hollywood movie, multiple generations of an entire family being executed for a single member murmering doubts about the regime, how she used to believe the dictator could read everyone's thoughts, how there is only one television station in North Korea and it only shows propaganda films about the dictators, not even a single love story. No one is allowed to sing or dance or think out of turn and without permission.

I just don't understand how NK has been able to keep it hidden so well in this day and age; it doesn't seem like anybody else has been near that effective.

Does anyone remember the guy from a few years ago who told his story about being born into a slave labor camp as part of a generational punishment family? All about being born into a prison society and how everyone was malnurished and fighting over rats to eat etc. Eventually he attempts to escape with a friend and his friend is electrocuted on a fence during the escape. He talks about using his friend's body as a shield against the electric fence so he can make it through. His story was perhaps the most horrifying thing I've ever heard.
