And now a word from a Democratic leader:
"I am very happy to take part in this unveiling of the statue of General Robert E. Lee.
All over the United States we recognize him as a great leader of men, as a great general. But, also, all over the United States I believe that we recognize him as something much more important than that. We recognize Robert E. Lee as one of our greatest American Christians and one of our greatest American gentlemen."
by Franklin D. Roosevelt, President. Remarks at the Unveiling of the Robert E. Lee Memorial Statue, Dallas, Texas. June 12, 1936.

But so-called modern, educated, "civilized" that never has that experience not only choose not to, but to vilify men they don't know and can never understand.
Those tough bastards took up arms, voluntarily or otherwise, and shot at each other. They knew the price of war and of violent disagreement, and paid it. And their families paid it. And they also knew the value in reconciling with the guy across the street after the fight was over, although the government did not for several years.
These sorry, soft Antifia fricks don't have a clue what real fighting is, and every time something bad happens to them they cry to the government and police (who they are ostensibly aligned against) and get their mouthpiece, the MSM, to spout whatever favors them.
frick them.
And frick those piece of shite Nazi and KKK wannabe's, as well. They are goaded to show up to peaceful protests or to co-opt other gatherings in order to incite the Left and delegitimize any peaceful purpose for which some may have originally decided to gather.

That is true if you mean that northern soldiers didn't insist that secesh traitors be hanged.
They had every right to secede. Lincoln denied them this right through war.
