The GOP is taking over local politics on the MS Gulf Coast and the area is prospering. Schools are great. Business is great. People are moving to the area.

Jackson, Harrison, and Hancock county are drastically different from the rest of the state.

I'm sure NOLA democratic leadership doesn't hurt. As big a fan as I am of New Orleans and love to traverse Mag and the warehouse district on weekends, the gulf coast is just a much better place to live. If your work allows for it, the day to day quality of life goes way up IMO.

Never thought I would say this, but I would move to Ocean Springs in a heartbeat to raise a family. The whole stretch from Pass Christian to Ocean Springs is severely underrated.

Extreme north MS and extreme south MS are booming.

It's that middle part that's dragging everybody down. Fortunately newly elected mayor Lumumba will bring central MS roaring back

False. ^ Parts of Madison and Rankin counties are as fine of a place to raise a family than anywhere in the south

Me too. Ocean Springs, PC and Bay St. Louis are all fantastic!

Citing two islands in a sea of undesirability doesn't make his statement false.

That is also true. It is undeniable that the red parts of the state are better places and more prosperous places to live in MS.

Now, I love the MS Delta, but it's not what it was and it's not up for debate about quality of life, jobs, schools, etc.

Lee, Desoto, Rankin, Madison, Jackson, Harrison and Hancock are vastly superior in most respects and they are red.

While it is fantastic that even downtrodden places like my home state of MS can develop towns with a high level of decency, It's obviously more to do with the people that make up the town and not the politics. You could put the best GOP mayor in Jackson this world has ever seen and that town would only maybe get marginally better.

The politics reflects the people of the area. The point is that the area is prosperous not due to politicians, but the make-up of the people that call it home. The elections are by-products. IMO this shows that the Coast has a bright future.

Yeah I get what you're saying and the general idea of the OP.

I guess I just really wanted to point out that certain parts of the state are royally fricked. And that depresses me because my hometown is on that "fricked" list.

Russians are actually in control on the MS Gulf Coast. Part of the deal between them and Trump.
