Don't be jelly. He is only the 3rd in line. Yep, he has done everything right with his life leading up to this past year which is why he is in a very powerful position. There are no skeletons but I do believe the white powder found at his church probably got his attention. Fortunately he has the fortitude to put forth the SAVE Act soon. It is going to be fascinating to see who wants non-citizens to be able to vote in American elections.
It is a shame we allow the "white powder" proponents to treat GOP leaders with such dis-respect.

I think a few people on here have said they go to church with him.
I don't think they showed him valuable intel in that SCIF that changed his mind. They either threatened his family or had his Pornhub history.

I went to law school with him. He wasn’t a nerd, per se, but very notoriously “conservative” and very Jesus. Think of your student council president.
He looks exactly the same. He’s got that earnest demeanor and looks and dresses the exact same.
The only thing different about him, is that he’s joined the Uniparty. It is a far cry from his Federalist Society roots.
He’s a complete disappointment. Complete.
They showed him what they planned to use as blackmail in that SCIF. It’s the only explanation. It’s completely disheartening. I can’t believe the about face we’re watching in slow motion.

He's a bit of a bitch, but I like him because he is one of the few journos who give it to both sides. He usually rips the left, but zeroes in a bit much on MAGA world, like today.

All of that and it fails to mention that if MTG or others boot Johnson the dems will join with the establishment Rs to elect Hakeem.
It is all so convoluted. The head of the beast in DC (DOJ NSD, FBI and so on...) will never drown in the swamp until the swamp is drained down to a skeleton crew.
Getting there is tough and seemingly redundant. Until then I refuse to allow another swamp choosing of Biden and GOP establishment choice.

Are showing them GWBush era scary (if we don't fund Ukraine billions a month we will all die) intelligence. Then Speaker Johnson and others feel compelled to do their bidding.
PLUS...white powder death threats to his family don't help.
Trump realizes if we play musical chairs for the Speakership again...The republicans will join with the democrats at the hip, and elect Hakeem as Speaker to get OMB.

Other than he would have lost, and lost status within the chamber, which is the obvious answer.
The vote was orchestrated once safe to allow certain pols to virtue signal. Had this just randomly come up for a vote, without prior negotiation, there would have been a lot more support.

I’m at the he couldn’t make it happen part. At least he built a big portion of the wall before Biden came in and undermined him on everything.
