Last month was the safest April on record in New York City, putting 2017 “on pace for a record year in lows for shootings and homicides,” Mayor de Blasio said Thursday.

The NYPD said there were 540 fewer serious crimes last month than during April a year earlier, when 7,917 such crimes were reported, a nearly 7% decline.

or because the NYPD defied their cuck mayor and reported the fricking illegals to ICE.

Ill go with removal of the violent illegals.

Wonder why we don't see blaring headlines from every major city every month?

Couldn't be libs cherry picking stats could it?

Impossible. Trump said the murder rate was higher.

It is so easy to manipulate crime statistics when you control the agency that reports crime statistics.

So your working theory is that NYC's historic, biblical, precipitous, sustained drop in murders is because of...cooked books?

My own agency has lowered crime simply by not allowing us to report thefts of property with burglaries. Two "property" crimes that go hand in hand, but when you can immediately claim a double digit drop in property crime....

Things seem to be spiraling out of control in Chicago, though. You don't suppose there was an influx of NYC Gangstas into Chicago, do you?

Thanks, Rahm Emmanuel! For all you do!

Following the Chicago playbook for "lowering" crime stats.

AG goes after sanctuary cities. Mayor of largest sanctuary city claims a "record" safe month weeks later.

Color me skeptical.

I hate to piss on your party.

There has been a steady out migration from New York City of the demographic group most likely to commit violent crime that has persisted for the last 30 years or so.

The decrease in murders/violent crimes is because groups more likely to commit them have slowly and steadily been priced out of being able to live in NY City and have out migrated in large numbers.

They have taken their problems elsewhere.

It is ok to think sometimes, it won't hurt you.

Chicago had some pretty miraculous, unbelievable even, drops in homicides soon after Rahm Emanuel was elected.

SO WEIRD!!

Are you talking about a situation in which I break into your house and steal something? Because if so, obviously. They never should have both been reported anyway. The theft is an underlying fact necessary for the burglary, by definition

While I suppose technically accurate, you'd have a damned hard time proving intent to commit a crime without, you know, them committing said crime
