So, what's the deal with Richard Spencer?

I saw that he held a rally at the Lee statue in Richmond.
Is this guy a legit white nationalist, or does he just get the label because the left has repeated it? I've heard him say he's "alt-right" but never a white nationalist.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly worked for the DNC, as much as he shows up to "champion" causes, thereby sullying them by association.

Preservation and defense of white identity and European culture is a worthwhile charter. I don't care for Spencer's antics but the underlying message is sensible, it's why they hate him so much.
It's ok for white people to advocate, call it whatever you like but being proud of who you are and where you come from is admirable to me regardless of ethnicity.

Pride in white European culture and heritage is the veneer. His underlying message is that non-whites are naturally inferior and that whites should segregate themselves. He's pretty open about it too whenever asked straight up.

Richard Spencer is more thoughtful, self-effacing, and intellectually curious than any other leader of any other movement along these lines. Yet he is easily the most vilified.

Im pretty sure Spencer is a white nationalist. He is actually good for political discourse in this country IMO

Yeah. Being "proud of your ethnicity" is one thing. Denigrating other ethnicities to make yours appear better is 99.9% likely racist.
