Is it just me, or does this sound like an idea just waiting to go terribly wrong....

It’s nothing new. There really is just no logical purpose for what they’re doing now

You could have every service and oil company capture their carbon and it wouldn’t move the needle when China and India are burning everything still. They just re-lessened their coal and coke sulfur properties so they’re back to smogging it up.

Just seems like it can lead to earthquakes. Also, pipe's life isn't infinite. What happens when it starts to leak? What about the possibility of is turning acidic, dissolving underground layers, and causing huge sinkholes?

I also read that the energy required to run one of the plants is immense. You have to build a new power plant, leading to more emissions, just to power the capture plant.

Oil companies have been doing it for decades to increase oil recovery.

Roughly 400ppm CO2 in the atmosphere.... that's 0.0004% how much can they really sequester?

Sounds like a dumbass plan to “save the earth” for a bunch of companies to siphon a lot of tax money from a government funded by a scientifically illiterate general public.

Yeah we inject all sorts of chemicals into the earth all the time. Dude is clueless

Absolutely nailed it in one sentence.
Thread over.

It’s just you. And it’s only CO2, not plain carbon.

CO2 has been mined and shipped by pipeline all over America for decades. Putting underground, from whence it came, is very innocuous.

There is a danger, but it is easily avoided. That is due to CO2 being heavier than air. A major leak in a low lying area would displace the air with CO2, suffocating anyone in that area. But this is true of many products that have been traversing populated areas for decades, including CO2.

this is the driving motive behind 90% of all DEM issues - just an excuse to get more of their donors on the gov teat.

Well, that’s false.

It is a fact that CO2 concentrations are increasing dramatically due to man’s activities.

It is a fact that CO2 is a greenhouse gas and that the excess CO2 is warming the earth and the earth’s atmosphere.

It is also a fact that the global warming alarmists have been dishonest and provably wrong almost every step of the way.

What is in doubt is how fast is this warming occurring. We know that the earth was in a warming cycle before CO2 concentrations ramped up very much, so what part of the current warming is due to normal cyclical solar activity and what is due to CO2 and methane concentrations? We don’t know that.

I am of the view, expressed by Elon Musk (who agrees with everything I wrote above, BTW), that waiting to find out if increasing CO2 concentrations will be ruinous “is not an experiment we should try.”

Now me and Elon might be wrong, but we have certainly given a logical reason for doing it.

Anytime this thread comes up about doing this in Lake Maurepas, the company doing it has paid shills come screech at and, call names to, anybody that is not for it.

Congrats on them not finding your thread.

it's waste of time for sure.

There is no historical connection between CO2 in the atmosphere and temperature. But there is a strong connection between CO2 in the atmosphere and plant and thereby animal human life.

Mixing issues here.. co2 for enhanced oil recovery ( it comes back out in a managed fashion)… versus co2 injection and storage underground to save the planet…I do not like the idea of injecting and storing and not sure that moves the needle.. I love the aspect of using it for enhanced oil recovery and have used it..

FWIW.. worked bravo dome in New Mexico and we produced the good quality co2 from it and sold it.. field was the size of Rhode Island as. I recall.. we actually reduced the size and had to go to the state about it .. king ranch was mad and had a guy threatening to “ run a sword of justice through me”…. Yeah he lost over rides.. we hard an active geological recharge going on in it… we always figured it was being sourced by faults down to some active volcanic .. i mapped a lot of faults and volcanic but never found the mother source.

“There is a danger, but it is easily avoided”

West texas and H2s says hold my beer ….
Avoided yes… easily… idk.. we had a crew die when they drove into a low spot (surface) and went into the dog house where the heavy poison gas accumulated over night from a pipeline breach…suppose to have mask and tanks available but never made it back to the truck to get them.

The C is in the CO2, it's harmless, natural, organic, and necessary for life.
And they won't be able to hold it underground.
It's all a scam to steal money.

Giving Mother Earth an enema. And we have paid eco-terrorists setting forest fires to save the planet. All those burned alive forest animals would like to posthumously thank all those green organizations for their service in saving an obscure dung beetle.
