Substantially less public mistakes/lies/attacking of intelligence community/demeaning allies. Would be good in a sense of returning to a more cautious and nuanced approach.
But, a much more competent legislative navigator. Meaning, likely policies I oppose would be on the plate much more often with more support.

Having a stable, reasonably intelligent human being in the oval office is better than an idiotic man-child. So even though I disagree with Pence on most things, he'd be a step up from Trump.
The only question is whether or not Pence would be better for Republicans. There's a decent contingent of lunatics in the party that could watch Trump get on his knees and give Puton a BJ and convince themselves it was a power move. If the GOP allows Trump to be impeached, it'll be hard to bring that lot into the fold. Similarly, for never Trump conservatives and even those who voted for Trump and now regret it, many of them will see it as too little to late.
Trump's stench is permanently all over Pence. The question is how many voters will be willing to hold their noses. If it's enough, then congress will feel safe backing Pence and they'll get 2 to 3 years of the president they wanted all along, but it's not, then we'll have 2 to 3 years of a lame duck, which is the best case, least damaging scenario.
