So Hillary lost the election in 2016 because she focused too much on the white vote?

At least according to the author of this article. I hope the Democrats follow his advice and double down on their identity politics strategy. The Democrat Party's Billion Dollar Mistake...

Yeah man. We all know she hit that Midwest WAY too hard. Especially Wiconsin. That was her downfall!

She was, and continues to be, very unpopular. VERY unpopular. She was a terrible candidate and she lost. But, unpopular and terrible as she was in 2016, she still received almost 3 million more votes than Trump did. Of course Donald Trump is VERY unpopular as well.

Hopefully we will do better than those two as POTUS nominees in 2020.

If it is true that they spent virtually no money on gotv efforts in non-white communities then he is right.

We aren't talking about issues here.

You do realize that two of the most heavily populated states vote UGELY for blue, right? I thought we figured out over 200 years ago that it wasn't about the popular vote. What am I missing?

She won California and New York by a ton. Take those states out and what was the popular vot difference? I'm asking because I honestly don't know.

The effectiveness of that staggering amount of money, however, was undermined by a strategic error: prioritizing the pursuit of wavering whites over investing in and inspiring African-American voters

First of all, in what Universe do Dems have to court African-American voters?

In what Universe?

And second, what is the obsession with a vote that is still only 12-13% of the entire population?

Dems have been touting the African American vote for 40 years...as if it was going to swing every election in their favor.

And this article touts it bringing Obama his win.

While we all know that middle class whites in cities put Obama in the White House.

The only thing Democrats need to do is court blacks just enough to get them to the polls. That's literally the only battle they have to "win" the black vote because, when they get there, they vote pretty much exclusively for Democrats.

Hillary simply had trouble getting out her message.

I don't get the whole popular vote thing. CITIES like Los Angeles, New York, Houston, etc. have more population than most STATES. This is exactly why the electoral college was created. It still amazes me the popular vote argument.

It just goes to show you that they can't even be honest about their efforts in a post mortem analysis.

Turning off middle class white voters is far worse than having blacks not show up to the polls.

It would have helped if she had a message to begin with.

Does anyone even remember her campaign slogan?

So she should court the white Midwest vote but trump is justified in staying clear of black folkes? What makes those midwesterns anymore special ?
