Do you think about anything else?

This argument was weak when it was used by those arguing against the legalization of interracial marriage
Ironically government got involved in sanctioning marriages in order to prevent interracial marriages. It's funny how discrimination plays out sometimes.

Oh look, people that hate meaningless titles love meaningless titles.

It's pretty meaningful if you are the one being discriminated against.

Marriage is a fundamental and constitutionally protected right and has been so affirmed as just that by the Supreme Court of the United States 14 times in its history.
You and I both know that you know those 14 cases are based on the definition of marriage being the union of a man and a woman.

The thread title should be changed to a news title
Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upholds Gay Marriage Ban
That would get more bites for this thread.

How are they being discriminated against exactly? They enjoy the exact same right to marry as everyone else.

Why would the Supreme Court review it when they said they wouldn't take appeals on gay marriage rulings? Or do you just think that they will because it's convenient for your movement?
They refused the appeals from the Tenth, Fourth, and Seventh Circuits because all of them ruled the same way in striking down the bans. By refusing to take a case they legalized gay marriage in 11 more states. Now that there has been a split, they are all but certain to take this appeal. The SCOTUS will generally hear a case when there are split rulings at the appellate level.

Some states aren't allowing them to file joint tax returns, among other things.

Marriage isn't a civil right.
The SCOTUS said in 1967 that it is.

The government either needs to take away all benefits based on marriage or stop discriminating against what couples qualify for such benefits. There are no other options.

The race card? Answer the question.
Tell me exactly what marriage rights are being denied to homosexuals right now?
I'm not even against gay marriage, but the attempts to draw comparisons to actual acts of discrimination (such as racism; Jim Crow) in conjunction with the constant attempts to villianize Christians are keeping me from supporting your cause.
If you honestly think our current marriage laws are even in the same ball park as bans on interracial marriage, you seriously lack perspective and sensitivity towards the people who actually struggled with real acts of discrimination.

I love you, member12.
But, that is a pretty silly stance to take. Nuh unh....a gay dude can marry a WOMAN just like any man!
silliness
