So why not use one of these?
The city brought up dumping some money in the Hirsch colosseum and the pelicans basically said no. The EPA did a study several years back on the prospective site and said it would take millions before it would be usable. The mayor then said she wanted the "complex" whether Shreveport got the team or not. This was really a crazy idea with no good way to sell it. It really was amazing to see the bipartisan effort of people to kill this thing. Going into the vote, it was split and One councilman was going to decide it. The citizens really got off their asses and the resulting vote was proof.

Because Shreveport sees itself as needing a boost. Bossier is winning the fight for tax paying citizens in a big way.

That. Bigtime. Shreveport has no chance in that fight anymore. Demographics are destiny for Shreveport. The growth of Bossier is huge. The things they've done like the Cyber Innovation Center / Research Park are bringing in a TON of actual good paying jobs. People are moving there to work for CSRA and the support companies that have moved in there and more are on the way. Shreveport can't compete with that.

Everything that Shreveport has that's good, like the Municipal and a few other cool things, can all be had while living in Bossier without the crime and decay.

The schools are MUCH better and they're building new one's every year to try to keep up with the massive growth and home building. The difference in a new Bossier school and one of the decaying ancient schools they're consolodating kids into in Shreveport might as well be Eloi and Morlocks. If you can't afford to put your kid in private school in Shreveport or they can't get into Magnet then you're screwed if you aren't in some select areas. By comparison those kinds of schools are pretty rare in Bossier areas where people are actually moving into.

And what really rubs salt in the wound is that the money per child spent in Caddo is enough to put them into a private school. But the education is definitely not, and they're still saying they dont have enough money. Only people that they are taxing for it though are home owners so they're not really making a compelling MOVE TO SHREVEPORT argument with that one.

A baseball, football, and basketball minor league team have all left the city for neighboring Bossier.

Literally none of those things have ever happened

Tim Brando said that support or rejection was along racial lines, except that it was wasn't.

Very true. The city taxes that some of my friends pay every month are absurd.

of all the stadium boondoggles out there, 30 mill for a DLeague team is maybe the worst
