Should the US abolish birthright citizenship?

I believe we should. You look at countries like United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Just being born in that country isn't good enough. In addition to being born in that country, one of your parents has to also already be a citizen of that country at the time of your birth. If the US for instance adopted such a measure, the only option for anchor babies would be for an illegal immigrant to procreate with an American citizen. Wouldn't get rid of the problem entirely, but it would cut it down massively.
President Trump has indicated is for getting rid of this as well. Unfortunately our birthright citizenship is embedded into the Fourteenth Amendment:
This section of the Fourteenth Amendment would need to be repealed and that unfortunately would be difficult. But you should already have a parent, at least one, who is already an American citizen to get American citizenship automatically at birth, even if born in the US. Because right now, there is literally nothing stopping people from travelling by boat to the Palmyra Atoll, giving birth to a child on that uninhabited island that is a US territory where the Constitution applies and thus being granted citizenship at birth. It's absurd how a family with no prior affiliation or association can get their child citizenship here by just giving birth here.
The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified at a different time when the US was large and our population wasn't as big and the welfare state hadn't been established, and having more citizens was a good idea. But it's an outdated concept now.
Do you agree in repealing birthright citizenship?

Yes, its time has passed.

Yes. We're the only first world country that does this.

If not abolished, then at least tightened up to prevent it's continued rampant abuse.
It's become an industry in other countries to get moms here for labor and delivery. I don't think that was the intent.

Actually Canada is the only other first world country that does it like America does, but that's hardly an example to follow.

Unfortunately birthright citizenship is enshrined in the damned carpetbag 14th Amendment.

OK one other first world country. And it's too far and too fricking cold in Canada that no one goes there to pop out anchor babies.

Actually, it should be challenged constitutionally.

Time for a convention of the states! Let the people decide whether we want to continue a system that's continuously abused to inject more people into a country that doesn't need a constant influx of millions a year.

We just need to get more conservative judges like Gorsuch. We get enough conservatives on the court and birthright citizenship goes bye bye.

I agree. It's inception served its purpose. Now it's just used as a loophole.

Yes, without a doubt. 2 illegals should not be allowed to give birth to a citizen.
At the least 1 citizen must be involved IMO.

No, it's not.
Look at contemporaneous debate, and scholarly discussion, of the language in the 14th. There's a serious question of whether it establishes birthright citizenship (and whether that was its intent [hint, it wasn't]).

Absolutely.
Should have been abolished decades ago.

The founders didn't implement it. It's a 19th century invention, Reconstruction era. Probably intended for former slaves since they weren't citizens immediately after emancipation.

Yep. Also you should have to pass an intelligence test and the citizenship test to be able to vote, or have served in the military.
