You mean like the statue issue that wasn't going to raise any hackles with their removal? Has that ended up a minor issue in your opinion?

I can't imagine anyone advocating for more government intrusion into our lives. No, we don't need a law.

What's pretty dumbfounding is the left's insistance that the players have the right to protest the flag, but that other Americans don't have the right to protest the players. I don't know how anyone can justify holding both of those positions simultaneously.

Aye, there's the rub. You have discerned a kernel of Truth.

The Left has always operated in that manner AND they will always operate in that manner. The way that you get the masses not to notice these logical flaws is through indoctrination. An indoctrinated person won't notice these logical flaws in the Leftist ideology.

I haven't seen a single person advocate that these players be forced to stand by law. Not even a good strawman.

Every single person who has voiced objection to this protest has done so under the premise that the protest it stupid and unecessary. Not under the premise that the players don't have the right to their stupid and unecessary position.

What's pretty dumbfounding is the left's insistance that the players have the right to protest the flag, but that other Americans don't have the right to protest the players. I don't know how anyone can justify holding both of those positions simultaneously

Our President, who I voted for, is calling for them to be fired and many on this board support that.

Imagine the outcry if University's starting firing people for having a MAGA sticker on their car or for not supporting ANTIFA.

Why do you care if they sit, kneel or stand?

No.

And if they did, it would be unconstitutional.

Like the CSA who took up arms against the US flag to protect their slaves freedom & liberty?

Kneeling for the anthem is far less egregious. Move on.

The only voted to secede, which they were constitutionally allowed to do. They "took up arms" after the USA forced them to.

Thank you for your service. I agree with everythinf you said. This whole thing started because Kap wanted out of his contract. It didn't have anything to do with social injustice or police harassment or anything else. It was a spoiled brat who wanted out of his contract.

I try not to let spoiled brats effect how I feel about football or the flag.

If its a minor issue why are the players kneeling? Why does ESPN and every sports talk show bring it up every damn day

As close as it gets.
The law says "should" but doesn't require a stand.
I imagine it would be unconstitutional and violate 1A to require it.

36 U.S. Code § 301 - National anthem
US Code
Notes

(a)Designation.—
The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b)Conduct During Playing.—During a rendition of the national anthem—
(1) when the flag is displayed—
(A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note;
(B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and
(C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.
