I didn't mean that literally.
My point was that if my Apple devices that all cost less than $1000 can find each other, how in the hell can we lose a 777?

Do really want to mandate a billion dollar tax in the industry for a single plane being lost?

One of the crew has an in house flight simulator and two Iranians are on the flight with stolen passports, and Iran is inside of the planes radius of flying safely. Now what would make you think NEFARIOUS?

I read earlier this AM that the "last message" as released wasn't the truth of it at all. In actuality it was in fact a message that would be said by a Jihadi as they are doing the job of killing people as the Koran tells them to do. So no going to sleep, but we are gong to hell was in fact the message.

She is probably smart, just nervous in front of cameras.

There is no plausible scenario where the flight crew would want to go dark for any reason that is not nefarious.
If you have a suspected malfunction of a aircraft system, such as ATC telling you they are not receiving your transponder information, the first action in trying to resolve the issue is to turn that system off and back on.

Bad grammar, good points.
All equipment related to the location of an airliner should be independent of manipulation by anyone on the flight deck nor in the cabin and be housed at the top of the tail or in some other part of the plane that is not physically accessible while in flight.

Actually, they're not. Primary radar is the old school stuff from the ground. The aircraft has no control over it. Secondary radar is using a descreet code in the transponder to identify and broadcast information about that flight. The reason it is designed to be turned off is that until ASDE-X was created to follow ground movements of aircraft, ATC needed aircraft to turn off (to STBY) their transponders until just before they take the runway and just after clearing the runway to reduce screen clutter for them.
Aviation is going through a major overhaul right now, so I imagine a dedicated single register transponder with ModeC for the purpose of tracking all large (12,500lbs or greater) aircraft is in the works. Multilateration, ADS-B, ASDE-X are all going to change the face of aviation in the US forever. We don't control things in the Indian ocean, however....and IATA doesn't have enough pull to legislate what she's suggesting.
