It appears that everyone has come to the conclusion, even conservative outlets, politicians, etc., that Russia attempted to influence the election.

The disagreement is to what scale and was there collusion.

Beyond hacking and phishing Podesta and the DNC and possibly giving e-mails to Wikileaks, is there anything else I am missing?

Because if this is what "interfering in our election" consists of, color me underwhelmed.

The DNC is a private organization and, while illegal, hacking them is not espionage or treason. They have no more rights that any other private company, from Walmart to my business.

So, what else is there to this "unprecedented attack on our democracy." I really want to know.

I remember reading the IC report on this. I was unaware of a Russian TV channel and many other "Russian" related things. So, who they were trying to influence, I have no idea.

Also, is there 100% proof that the Russians provided the Podesta emails? Or just that it was a Russian iD tag that could have been placed there by the CIA/NSA.

Funny you ask this. NBC just stated it was 3 things: internet trolls; hacking/phishing DNC; and attempting hacking of several states voter registries. (per NBC Nightly News Hallee Jackson report)

Now the reality is none of this can be proven as Russian. Trolling is not just Russian alone for sure (looks around this board). The DNC refused access to all investigative bodies. So we're supposed to take the word of admitted and proven liars and cheats that it was Russians in their servers. Right, smh. The DHS was shown to have attempted to hack multiple times on the election day/evening at least 5 states. Where's the Russians proof?

Truth is, at best it's speculation and proof less accusations against Russia.

People that I would think we can trust have said Russia is definitely up to no good but I feel like it hasn't actually been established that they gave a shite about the election. Do we even know if they definitely were responsible for the DNC leaks?

Podesta was phishing, but I'm not sure if anyone tried to attribute that to russians

The dnc hack was determined Russian by CrowdStrike, but they have close ties to dems, so they have as much credibility as any character witness would. No one else has been allowed anywhere near the servers.

In the vault7 dump, we learned that the IC can leave Russian fingerprints on their hacks, so there is really no telling who hacked who.

What we do know, is that china, russia, and other major powers are always trying to hack into us government systems, and we gladly return the favor.

That's right. I couldn't recall exactly what or who it was.

The funniest part about this is HRC was able to get noted hack, james Clapper (then, director of national intelligence governing all 17 intelligence entities) to accept CrowdStrike assessment. She used clappers support to publicly declare that 17 national intelligence agencies have determined Muh russians. It was pretty ballsy.

Very good info thank you. What I want to know is why do we know so much about this. This type of activity would unfortunately seem to be pretty routine but I don't recall our intelligence community ever openly discussing a cyber attack from another country. Maybe I'm wrong and it is fairly routine as well. If it's not par for the course for the topic to be so commonly leaked and discussed then that would lead to some pretty scary implications.

It's extremely common. The Chinese atempted some 20,000 hacks during Obama's reign. Its not limited to foriegn actors, either. The feds actively hack our own state government systems as was the case with the dhs and the Georgia dept of state during the general.

The media is making an issue of this for no other reason than to hobble Trump's agenda.

The DHS made clumsy attempts to hack Georgia, Kentucky, west Virginia and apparently several others. Those are the ones we know about.

And in another full year of the "muh Russians" you know what we'll know about?

Answer: internet trolls, DNC server, and DHS and possibly others attempted hacks of voter rolls. Not a damned thing new.

They used propogana ( via the Internet) to influence stupid people and it worked so Trump got elected. The same way a few guys used propoganda to tranish the name of marijuana so they could make a profit off of synthetic drugs and the same way hitler used propoganda to win favorite with German people. They also attempted unsuccesfully to hack voting precints

Exactly. The media and the DNC itself did much more meddling in the election process than the Russians. Exponentially more.
