Draft of repeal bill

quote:

Senate Republican leaders on Thursday released a draft of their long-awaited ObamaCare repeal-and-replace bill ahead of a high-stakes vote expected next week.

The measure includes deep cuts to Medicaid and fundamentally reshapes that program from an open-ended government commitment to a system of capped federal payments that limit federal spending.

The bill repeals billions of dollars in taxes that were used to raise money for ObamaCare’s coverage expansion and also abolishes the law’s mandates to buy coverage.

The tax credits under ObamaCare to help people buy private coverage would be kept but reshaped so that they are less generous and cost the government less money.

“It’s time to act because ObamaCare is a direct attack on the middle class and American families deserve better than it’s failing status quo,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Thursday. “They deserve better care. That’s just what we’re going to continue to work to bring them.”

People on the left literally worship medicaid.

Medicaid, before the ACA, was a WELFARE PROGRAM meant for people in TEMPORARY ECONOMIC DISTRESS.

Democrats want the poor to permanently be on that program it is not right.

ObamaCare taxes need cut ASAP.

Even before the ACA, Medicaid covers half of all births in the US, a large minority of children, and disabled adults.

What kind of immoral monster wants to take that away? These aren't leeches, they're the most needy among us.

democrats probably benefit electorally with the program being destroyed. Democratic strategists are probably salivating at millions, maybe up to 20M, losing their healthcare coverage.

And on a local level it absolutely destroys the Louisiana budget. 1 in 3 people are on Medicaid in Louisiana.

It's sickening.

Why don't you leftists just abort them?

Or better yet. If you can't afford to have a child then don't.
Take personal responsibility for your own life.

My wife and I paid for the birth of our first 2 children completely out of pocket.

frick other people who can't afford to pay their own bills.

Children and the disabled are not leeches. If you believe otherwise, you lack all empathy.

No doubt, if they can motivate them to vote, they will demogogue this issue to the hilt.

Did you.....did you not even read my post?

Medicaid should be meant for the MOST vulnerable in society, not vast swaths of people who are of working ability.

It also puts penalties in place for states that spend over the average per capita for Medicaid (which clearly Louisiana will get hammered by).

This will hurt Louisiana jobs, schools, roads, bridges, etc. Total disaster.

This bill doesn't distinguish between the two.

it actually gives them an excuse to not have a platform.

They can just run ads all day, Mcconnel, trump and his allies in the house took away healthcare from 20M people. Will they take it away from you?

It is quite hard to do something that affects 20M+ people without most people know someone affected. Unlike getting health insurance, having your health insurance taken away is something you talk about. Whether that is at work, or with your friends, or your family. those personal stories are gripping for the uneducated.

The system is abused by people who could otherwise find income if they chose other pursuits.

That is what you get when you get in bed with the devil (Obamacare) ......it is WRONG and just because it will hurt to stop doing it doesn't mean it shouldn't be stopped.

I have plenty of empathy. And I help when, where, and how I choose. The way it should be. Not by government fiat.
