Proposed economic freedom zones for low income locations like Detroit which includes no payroll taxes and 5% income tax.

Channeled Milton Friedman, "you are better at spending your money than the federal government".

Made a list of government failures especially the war on poverty.

Used Star Parker as an anecdote for some one that rose out of poverty through the free market.

There's a little more but I already forgot. I was watching the end of the basketball game at the same time.

He only mentioned God once and that was in reference to another person's success story.

Keep in mind he has a evangelical base to pander to for nomination. I though he did a good job including God without pushing religion or coming across as an extreme evangelist.

It seemed like 99.9% of what he talked about was fiscal. I really think that is what you will get with a Rand presidency.

I get it. And it doesn't bother me if he throws god in there some.

Just pointing out he needs to be careful there. The gop already has that faction of their base on lockdown and the goal should be appeal to the masses. Many of which don't believe in god and some who will actually think less of him for having a lot of "faith".

74% of America identifies themselves as religious. They may not be devout Christians or firm believers, but the majority of the country isn't going to change their vote if a candidate includes God in his message. Unless the candidate is an extremist evangelical like Santorum.

People like him are given opportunities by their parties like this in order to launch themselves into the presidential conversation. Paul hit a homer tonight.

Great speech but he needs to bring down the level he is speaking to. I don't think the average American will connect with him unfortunately.

His father wasn't nearly as presidential or "together"

Actually no, Ron was quite sane in that he recognized what's happening to this country and what the real problem is. And that's big spending on entitlements, military and an ever increasing police state for starters.

He spent his last speech in congress basically calling them a bunch of loopy psychopathic authoritarian counts.

No he doesn't.

He did a great job addressing the problem with welfare by keeping the focus on the Gov't and not criticizing or isolating those that are on welfare. He turned around the narrative that it's the Government programs holding the people down.

Excellent, intelligent speech. I'm telling you, this guy is the GOP's best shot at winning in 2016..he knows how to deliver the conservative message in a cool, soothing way. Reminds me a lot of how Reagan did it, minus the one liner jokes

Question, would he completely obliterate an opponent in the debates? He seems like a guy who would embarrass his opponent by being waaaay more logical than they could hope to be.
