Copied from another board...too good not to share.

quote:

So Schumer promised the Republicans that if they would do him the favor of delaying the new CIA Director's confirmation hearing by one day to make the scheduling easier on the Democrats who sat on multiple committees, he would make sure that the new CIA Director was confirmed by voice vote on Inauguration Day.

On Schumer's word, Trump schedule a visit to the CIA on Saturday to introduce them to their new boss.

But Schumer lied, and Trump was stuck with going to the CIA and giving a pointless speech. Cotton tore into
Schumer:

"Cotton angrily confronted Schumer about his broken promise. According to witnesses, Schumer told Cotton to lower his voice and asked him move off of the Senate floor to an adjacent hallway for a private discussion. "We need to take this out into the hallway," Schumer said. Cotton walked with Schumer but loudly rejected his first request. "Don't tell me to lower my voice!" he shouted, with an additional salty admonition tacked on for emphasis. Burr and Cornyn were present, as was Senator Mark Warner, ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and several aides.

Schumer told Cotton that the Senate had never previously confirmed a CIA director on Inauguration Day and if Cotton had been around eight years earlier, he'd know that Republicans didn't extend that courtesy for incoming president Barack Obama. "Eight years ago, I was getting my arse shot at in Afghanistan," Cotton snapped. "So don't talk to me about where I was 8 years ago."

Burr, not known for his aggressiveness, pointedly told Schumer that Republicans had learned something important about taking Schumer at his word. "I won't make that mistake again," he said.

Boom.

The democrats are just trying to have some control while they still can. Thanks to rules put in place by the democrats once his positions are filled they will not need the democrats for anything for at least the next two years. They are basically irrelevant.

And that is what a verbal spanking sounds like.

This is the ultimate irony.

I can't wait for the media to tell the public that it was really Republicans that wrote these rules.

Good. He deserves to be called out publicly. He is a true obstructionist.

What does this
quote:

Schumer told Cotton that the Senate had never previously confirmed a CIA director on Inauguration Day
have to do with him not living up his word
quote:

he would make sure that the new CIA Director was confirmed by voice vote on Inauguration Day.
I have always despised Schumer as sleazy politician. Him having a position of power in the dem senate will only strengthen the R's over time.

Sounds like politics as usual. They all go back on deals all the time. Schumer is a sleazeball though.

And sorry, I just can't take Cotton seriously after he held up confirmation for a ambassadorship to the Bahamas as a personal vendetta against Obama. The nominee passed from leukemia while awaiting confirmation. Save your ire and tears for someone else, Cotton.
