You're right, both are solid, but I would place Joan Rivers at the top of any list of female comedians.

I agree. Ball & Burnett were sketch comedians. Joan Rivers actually had a quick wit. She didn't need a script.

I'm a woman and I didn't take it that way at all. It seemed like a form of sit there and look pretty.

IMO, women need to educate themselves, be somewhat self sufficient for at least a while in their lives, continue to learn, experience life, be a whole person- not just 'be'.

Not really how I mean it. Case-in-point. I just read a story yesterday about a long-ago actress named Heddy Lamarr. In addition to being an actress, she was actually quite brilliant. In fact, she & someone else invented some technology back during WWII that was eventually paved the way for cell phones. Brilliant woman. I never said women werent smart.

What did I mean by "women just need to BE"? Simoly that God (or nature, if you prefer), set things up in such a way that the male is naturally a pursuer of the female. If you study nature, you know that this isn't simply indigenous to the human species. In fact, the male of practically every species is programmed to "show off" in an attempt to impress females during the courting phase.

That's what I meant by "Women just need to be." You are free to agree or disagree, but in no way was I saying that women just n3ed to look pretty & be quiet. Just like that example with Heddy Lamarr, I give credit where cr3dit is due when ANYBODY achieves greatness. Gender doesnt really matter when we're talking about accomplishment.

I feel sorry for her. She is a bitter childless, aging woman. She bought into the lie that feminism would bring her happiness and is bitter and angry at happier women who had families and kids.

These leftist women are in denial that their own decisions brought them a life they hate.

Life is hard for everyone. However, the wiser (or kind of but not quite on the contrary, the simpler) you are, the "easier" it gets, because of the way you perceive your feelings and experiences.

These women are certainly not simple, and they are purposely avoiding the kinds of life experiences that have traditionally been seen to grant one wisdom.

Women aren't funny. It's just science. I'm only joking a little. Women aren't good at comedy. Men aren't good at lactating. We all have our gifts. Women don't understand humor, so they go for shock value or gross out comedy. You aren't really laughing at something funny they said, you are laughing because it's so shocking to hear a woman say things like that. If a man was up there saying those things, it wouldn't be funny, just gross

I agree. the only female comedienne that EVER made me laugh was Ellen Degeneres; I dont care for her show, her bias, but I love listening to her old stand-up routines.

This cocky form of humor isn't funny when women do it. Thanks for a prime example of why women suck at stand up these days.

Women being vulgar or masculine isn't funny, it's nauseating. Just a hot tip from the peanut gallery.

Completely agree. I saw an attractive woman during a parade wearing a shirt that had "Suck my dick" written on it. I asked what it meant and she said female empowerment and a middle finger at the Patriarchy. Explain that one to me.

My first thought when she is mentioned.

quote:

Governor William J. Le Petomane: Thank you, Hedy, thank you

Hedley Lamarr: It's not *Hedy*, it's *Hedley*. Hedley Lamarr.

Governor William J. Le Petomane: What the hell are you worried about? This is 1874. You'll be able to sue *her*.

But yeah, read about her after watching Blazing Saddles one night. She designed an improved traffic light, a failed pill that would turn water into a carbonated drink, and most importantly, a frequency-hopping radio guidance system for torpedos. This is part of the basis for CDMA, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technology.

I think she made a great decision not to have children and the world is a better place because of this.

None of this has any basis, factually. Words like these are why so many women resort to offensive language in comedy. There are more and more funny women appearing in comedy as our society grows out of its overbearing patriarchy

Further confirmation of my belief that women who don't have kids become sad and crazy.

Any childless women over the age of 30 are almost always unfulfilled and generally miserable. I've yet to meet an exception to this rule.

Did Western Civilization not already do that before feminism?

All you have to do is read this thread to find the answer to your question is "no".
