Imagine being a 16 year underprivileged athlete at this point who's only real shot at a better life is through sports. The kid isn't very smart, but he works hard and is an incredible athlete. One day, if your body holds up, keep working hard and things go your way you could be the next great superstar, earning millions or hundreds of millions of dollars from shoe contracts, team paydays, etc.
Then you look out and see this nonsense. Guys that have ALREADY gotten their pay days openly burning your bridge to a future better life! Essentially DARING the fans...the only reason any of this is valuable in any sense...to go find something else to do if they dare disagree.
It would have been like Michael Jordan deciding to firebomb the NBA right as he made that final shot against Utah, killing the hopes and dreams of everyone that came after him to make their fortunes.
If I was the father of a kid like that I could not imagine my level of contempt for these pricks right now.
