And this is why our political system is a failure and needs a total SWAMP cleanse. We need to work together to get shite done. There will be things you dont like in the bill and some things you do and vice versa. That is how negotiating works. Then again we are talking about the leader of the house who couldnt even get his party to work together. fricking cuck.

quote:

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, the top Republican in Congress, said he does not want President Donald Trump to work with Democrats on new legislation for revamping the country's health insurance system, commonly called Obamacare.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning" that will air on Thursday, Ryan said he fears the Republican Party, which failed last week to come together and agree on a healthcare overhaul, is pushing the president to the other side of the aisle so he can make good on campaign promises to redo Obamacare.

"I don't want that to happen," Ryan said, referring to Trump's offer to work with Democrats.

Carrying out those reforms with Democrats is "hardly a conservative thing," Ryan said, according to interview excerpts released on Wednesday. "I don’t want government running health care. The government shouldn’t tell you what you must do with your life, with your healthcare," he said.

On Tuesday, Trump told senators attending a White House reception that he expected lawmakers to reach a deal "very quickly" on healthcare, but he did not offer specifics.

"I think it's going to happen because we've all been promising - Democrat, Republican - we've all been promising that to the American people," he said.

Trump said after the failure of the Republican plan last week that Democrats, none of whom supported the bill, would be willing to negotiate new healthcare legislation because Obamacare is destined to "explode."

Interesting.

Perhapes the overture to the Dems is having the desired effect and will focus the GOP.

Of course he wouldn't understand collaboration. He had 7 years to figure out how to pass an alternative to Obamacare and couldn't even get enough commitment to warrant a vote on it.

He's such a joke.

If the establishment republicans won't play ball, maybe the democrats will. Good for Trump. He said the R on the ballot didn't mean anything to him, and I agree. It was just a way to get to the White House. Now he's in charge, and his mind is set on getting things done, not playing party politics like the professional squatters in Congress

Exactly ud. Trump is playing one against the other. He wants to do the deal. The principals aren't as consequential. He gave republicans the first shot.

Trump is the type of guy who loves being told what he can't do. (/sarcasm)

Ryan opposing dimocrats in health care?!

Bringing in a bunch of DNC libtard Obamacare supporters will destroy the GOP coalition as conservatives will not become appeasers!

Maybe he understands the idiocy. Or maybe a blind pig found an acorn.

Do you want to get something done just for the sake of saying you got something done, or do you want a total repeal and replace which is what Ryan wanted, and which the HFC thought didn't go far enough?

He makes a deal with Dems, and the voters who bought into his pledge that he would totally repeal and replace will be really angry.

He understands the idiocy. The HFC held this up because they didn't think it went far enough.

Trump thinks he's going to scare the HFC. These people are true believers, and don't understand incrementalism. I wonder if they'll blink.

This is how government has to be done if it is to be functional. Congressional Republicans are so heavily programmed for dysfunctional government that they likely have no idea how to do it.

The real stumbling block will be the last eight years of propaganda directed to the right leaning public which instilled the idea that working together is a betrayal. It's the people (I'm looking at you, Poli Board) who don't understand how to make government function.

I know ol Chuck wont but younger dems and pubs (ones that havent been totally indoctrinated) will come to the conclusion that their constituents want something to get done and not just play party politics.

If any president could get people to break ranks it's this one.
