Excellent question, let's see if he answers.

I mean, Comey leaks to the press so that a special counsel can be appointed, and the guy appointed turns out to be a deep lifelong friend and mentor? How worse can optics get?

Mueller:
Interviewed with POTUS Trump for FBI head.
Is ultra tight with Comey; "brothers in arms", according to Comey.
Is now hiring a slew of HRC and Democrat donors for his team.
Politico report.

But he prolly has zero conflicts of interest...

Considering that Comey has been inside the beltway for 20+ years, it would be hard to appoint someone that he hadn't worked with closely and was friendly with.

It's true. If you don't believe it you are free to appoint a special counsel to investigate.

It just has to be an experienced professional who has had zero contact with anybody else within the same profession who lives in a far distant corner of the globe. Right, Poliboard?

THE MELT WOULD BE GLORIOUS

No, instead, a disgruntled former employee is investigating the man who fired him by proxy.

Is Comey part of the investigation that his friend Mueller is performing?

You knew what I meant.

Are suggesting I am wrong and that an appearance of a clinfict of interest isn't just cause to to fire a special counsel?

Because as per usual, I have the actual law on my side, and you have your feelings.

d) The Special Counsel may be disciplined or removed from office only by the personal action of the Attorney General. The Attorney General may remove a Special Counsel for misconduct, dereliction of duty, incapacity, conflict of interest, or for other good cause, including violation of Departmental policies. The Attorney General shall inform the Special Counsel in writing of the specific reason for his or her removal.

The law actually tells us two things

1. A special counsel can be fired for having a conflict of interest, because that is good cause.

2. The President can not fire a special counsel, that is legaly only something the Attorney General can do, well the Deputy Attorney General in this case, because Sessions has recused himself.

Which by the way I pointed out that very thing last week. Trump could fire Rosenstein if he refused to fire Mueller, but he can't straight out fire Mueller.

Please please continue arguing the law with me, it's hilarious watching you flail time after time.
