The Hill

quote:

Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R) is demanding that members of the College Football Playoff committee turn over text, emails and notes related to its decision to exclude Florida State University’s (FSU) undefeated football team from the college playoffs. Scott in a letter to Boo Corrigan, the chairman of the selection committee, demanded “total transparency from the committee regarding how this decision was reached and what factors may have been at play in reaching this outcome.”

quote:

Scott is calling for any notes, recordings or reports about the committee deliberations to select the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide, which lost to Texas earlier in the year, over the Florida State Seminoles, who compiled a perfect 13-0 record during the season, to the playoffs. He wants all emails, text messages and other written communications exchanged between members of the selection committee about its college playoff selections, including communications exchanged with College Football Playoff company officers and board members. And Scott wants all emails, texts and communications exchanged between the selection committee and individuals not affiliated with the College Football Playoff selection committee, company or board. He also wants the committee to turn over all statistical data and game video of FSU’s season reviewed by the selection panel.

Lol what a waste of time. CFB is just as corrupt as DC, Rick. You should know this by now.

Simple fix.

Let the short horns and the elecants play it out December 14th.

Winner in, loser plays Georgia in the bowl game that was against FSU.

All the down voters are homers.

Government officials from all parties need to stop believing that they need to be involved in all aspects of life.

I do feel somewhat this way - But - football is such a huge part of culture in this country, I don’t want to see us lose yet another American tradition. Further - achievement judged by committee rather than by results is a shitty, subjective and slippery slope. (I think this is a natural and shitty result of the change making these players semi-pro in college-but that’s another philosophical rant entirely and I’m definitely in the minority on hating being able to pay these players).

FSU was robbed and I’m not sure what needs to happen but millions of dollars in revenue are at stake and if there was corruption (and ESPN infected the process) - then something needs to happen.

I think, if anything, it’s a way to maybe set the reset on honesty in media, and make objective results meaningful.

Supposedly, Florida's Comptroller has sent a preservation letter to the Committee. Looking to see if there was any Mouse-related frickery.

I don't think calling on transparency in their process is a bad thing.

A committe or group of people have choosen the national title winner/who plays for it every year other than the BCS era. College football post season being dictated by groups of people isn't new.

Congressional witnesses refuse to answer questions under subpoena and you think this matters.

Trump blamed it on DeSantis. Said he didn't lobby enough for them and did a sad, sad job.

That’s exactly what would’ve happened if FSU and the ACC hadn’t vetoed the playoffs being expanded a year earlier.

Oops.

Not sure if that comment is directed to me for posting or Scott for requesting but no I don’t think this matters and the government should stay out of it.

Pretty sure this is just Scott virtue signaling to Florida voters so he can say he tried to do something.

But there has never been a decision this blatantly corrupt.

If they'd left Bama or Texas out you could argue about it. There was zero justification for what they did. It was unquestionably crooked.

The playoffs are a TV driven event and it’s obvious the decision makers took advantage of FSUs QB situation as an excuse to arrange a matchup that’ll draw ratings.

All that acknowledged, Washington DC has a shiteload of its own problems and issues to be addressing without worrying about how the college football playoffs shake out.

The issue wit the CFB Committee is they used the "best teams" criteria for FSU (was not one of the best teams), Bama and Texas (who are the best teams) whereas they used the most deserving criteria for Michigan, Washington and UGA (at best team that is not deserving).

The Committee was not consistent with their selection criteria with each team.

Deserving rankings:
1 Michigan
2 Washington
3 FSU
4 Texas
5 Bama
6 UGA

Best rankings:
1 Texas
2 Bama
3 UGA
4 Michigan
5 FSU
6 Washington
