Retired generals, admirals in op-ed: Trump’s Jan. 6 actions were ‘dereliction of duty’

BY JULIA MUELLER - 07/21/22 12:10 PM ET

Former President Trump’s actions during the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection constituted a “dereliction of duty” that endangered American democracy, a group of seven retired four-star generals and admirals said in a New York Times op-ed Thursday.

“When a mob attacked the Capitol, the commander in chief failed to act to restore order and even encouraged the rioters,” the former military leaders, who served Democratic and Republican presidents, wrote.

In the op-ed, retired four-star Gens. Peter Chiarelli, John Jumper and Johnnie Wilson and retired Adms. James Loy, John Nathman, William Owens and Steve Abbot called out Trump for his inaction on Jan. 6 and consideration of using the military in schemes leading up to that day.

Ahead of Jan. 6, the op-ed authors wrote, Trump’s allies “urged him to hold on to power by unlawfully ordering the military to seize voting machines and supervise a do-over of the election,” flouting the balance of civilian control of the military.

When Trump did not call the National Guard to respond with the Capitol under siege, he ignored an “urgent need” for his intervention, the retired generals and admirals argued.
Somebody for a change speak up and severely punish these Generals & Admirals for lying about the CIC.

There is evidence with JCS/Pentagon/DOD signatures that Trump indeed ordered the Nat Guard.

Plus A military coup was committed with special operators with shoot to kill orders on J6th-to make sure Biden was made official. So it is impossible for Trump to have been derelict. The Pentagon sure seemed derelict.

Yeah kind of like a congratulatory phone call was a dire threat to national security.

These people are paid off so easily, and by easily I mean with our money.

Anyone who isn't connecting these dots is pretty effing stupid.

I give them as much credibility as the groups of former USAttorneys or the group of former intelligence agents that pen these types of opinions against Trump

For the 400th time.

Which. Actions. Precisely???

Saying mean things about Mike Pence behind closed doors?

WTF - was he scaling bike racks ? Or beating people up with fire extinguishers? Or did the Proud Boys have an organizational meeting in the Oval Office on January 5? Did he buy Ashley Babbit a bagel? WHAT. DID. HE. DO??

File a lawsuit? Suggest congress should follow his lawyers interpretation of the electoral college act?? WTAF???!

Yeah, General Patton isn't walking back through that door.

Hell, Ulysses S. Grant isn't either.

They’ve convinced me that Trump did indeed frick up on January 6 …

He should’ve called for all war against the swamp. The tree of liberty needs to be refreshed.

They should worry their little heads about recruiting. Or lack there of. That is a more pressing problem.

Now do General Milley instructing other military leaders to check with him before completing a Presidential order.

That POS should already be 6ft under.

Hopefully someone is taking notes, so that President Trump can make sure neither they, nor the defense contractors for which they lobby will benefit while he is in office.

I mean, why would they want to serve such a guy?

Few people want to join up with the people they represent.
