Are they classified as federal employees? I'm honestly ignorant. Do they have access to the same insurance plans that federal employees have access?

Well, they just sent the AHCA to the Senate w/ language in it that exempts them from having to use it.
So yes, if its good enough for the populace, it should be good enough for them also.
