We are pretty good at getting signatures. If the council votes to annex mall of LA which then negates the St. George petition action must be taken. The people will be heard loud and clear. They deserve the right to vote on St. George whether they are for it or against it.

Pretty sure all St. George councilmen will vote against this, so you are good.

While I like the ending of the movement, would have liked to seen it defeated in a vote.

Denying these businesses their right to self-determination is hypocritical though.

What about denying residents the right to self determination?

What's stopping them from continuing their petition? Or, from starting a new petition?

Why is that? Do you live in SG? In BR and want their money or outside of the area and have other reasons?

Hint: Lionel Rainey is moron advancing his own self-interests. you probably shouldn't listen to him

Its your leaders fault that this happened, maybe you should look into recalling them.

They should be re-elected.
Love those who believe in "self determination". Cut yourself off from the city so your taxes don't have to go to the impoverished areas; but then leech off of that city for your job, and return the tax dollars to the self-determined town.
Right wing socialism.
Suburbs do the same thing. The Gretna leeches were at their most obnoxious, getting tolls taken off of the CCC, requiring the rest of the taxpayers in the state to pay their commuting costs.

Impoverished areas? Who is picking and choosing who to annex? The metro council. They are picking money makers and not neighborhoods. If Baton Rouge city leaders really wanted to be "better together" they would move to annex all the unincorporated area. But they don't want to do that because then they would have to provide services to that area.

Just so you don't go too far with this idea and hurt yourself, landowners request to be annexed, not the other way around.

So you should compose some nice anonymous hate mail to send to OLOL, BR-General, Level Homes, and Mall of Louisiana.

I think only city councilmen will be voting on the annexation petition so stand down.

Are you a complete idiot?

The property owners have to ASK to be annexed. The Metro Council does not pick and choose.

The word earlier today was that this move would invalidate the current petition.

Well for starters, they're trying to pass a 2 year moratorium on inconvenient incorporations, to give themselves time to annex the profit centers...
So much greed with these city jerks. I actually didn't think the city government was that bad until they time and again did everything possible to defend the revenue stream and willfully neglect the kids. Screw every one of those greedy dogs.

Has it passd? Has Jindal signed it?

Both answers are no.

If this isn't about a money grab and stealing from the taxpayers, why the problem with OLOL and the Mall staying with Baton Rouge?
Of course, this is ALL about taking taxpayers dollars for themselves. Bunch of deadbeats.

Sure the mall of LA and BR General just happened to ask at the same time. If you don't think metro council members and the mayor's office weren't begging them to do this then your ignorant. They probably made some under the table deal to sweeten the pot for them to ask for annexation.

You know they monitor this board and can track where you post. The Old Baton Rouge Money power brokers are people you don't want to get on the wrong side of. Just saying...
