Any ideas?

In my opinion , I don't think it needs to be a war hero nor a political figure.

I think an entertainer or musician would be appropriate and avoid a stupid controversy. I highly doubt it will be Benson, and I don't think that would be the best choice anyway..

Personally, I really think Toussaint or Domino would work well. They're both unique to New Orleans and I doubt Either would ruffle too many feathers, unless some thinks it should be a more "serious" historical figure like a soldier or a political leader.

Hey, don't downvote me. It's going to be changed to something new, regardless.

Spike Lee Circle. Problem solved. He made a documentary about the levee failure during Katrina. Has ties to the city. Do the right thing.

Might as well. They're going to make it as controversial as possible.

Spike Lee is more popular in New Orleans than Robert E Lee or Harry Lee. Put up a statue of Spike, still call it Lee Circle. It really isn’t that complicated. Detailed city street maps would still be good.

Sacrificing Melpomene was enough, imo.

ummmm Spike Lee belongs in Harlem NY... I'm for honoring NOLA culture, but not a specific person. Maybe a statue of a trumpet or something

How about Stagger Lee Circle. Loyd Price was from the New Orleans area. The song even mentions a shooting. Pretty appropriate.

Taking down the monunents produced enough whining. i don't think I could take the long months of white folk clamor, if they tried Spike. And this board would be a shite show.

It would be unconventional, but I could probably live with it.

Look fellas, New Orleans is Chocolate Town, once again. Forget it, it is lost to the jungle which it will come to be.
