For you individually it should not be costing him $15K but if he has you and your family it would not surprise me it is at least $15k less whatever he charges you.

You know what just dawned on me? ACA will have been repealed so all those mandated coverages like maternity and limited deductibles will be gone too so you could buy stripped down policies that will be much less than these policies loaded with mandates that many people do not need.

For example I don't need maternity and I would really like a $20-25000 deductible but the law will not let them sell such big deductible policies under ACA.

I'm not really sure how it will effect me. I get my insurance through my employer and they pay it for me. Honestly I feel for Americans having to shoulder the burden but I am a lucky person to not have to pay anything.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. I have EXCELLENT insurances (health, dental, etc.) through my employer and I don't want that to be fricked with. May sound selfish but I'm not sorry. We have roughly 10k employees world wide and my company gets a very sweet deal with BCBS of TX with our plans even though obamacare jacked up our per pay period costs. Leave it to the POS liberals to ruin a good thing.

If this passes the very first thing you should do is to ask your employer to cancel your health insurance and give you the money as a raise instead.

I can imagine that going over about as well as a fart in church.

Why would anyone want to be at the whim of their employer if they could own their own policy???

What if they go out of business? or change management? or sell out and consolidate?

I guarantee you the employer would rather you have the money they spend on insurance than to give it to health providers and insurance companies.

You must work for the state.

Why would any employer want to give money to a health provider than to you? (JBE would because health providers are big political contributors)

Why you not want the $5000 per year in tax credits you could get with a health savings account?

You people are thinking like slaves.

My check stubs show my portion and my employees portion (how much each of us pay per pay period) and for me and my family the portion my employer pays is well less than half of that $15k/year you're mentioning. I just checked my stub and it's definitely less that half (their portion) of $15k that they pay per year.

I have a $750 deductible per person. (Used to be $500 but thanks to that garbage obamacare it's no longer available. It may come back with the repeal, hopefully)
$30 copay per doctor visit.
$250 copay for ER
100% coverage (no copay) for annual wellness visits for all family members
$5.00 generic prescriptions
$15.00 name brand prescriptions
$40.00 for the big biomed fancy stuff prescriptions

PLUS $25.00/month maximum for gym memberships through BCBS of TX with select gyms local or nationwide with NO annual contract/cancel at any time/start back at any time.

So yeah, I do have a sweet deal and I don't want that touched at all costs! Fortunately my company is run by strong conservative leadership.

Who says they have to give the money to anybody? What's to stop them from just pocketing the money?

Now, after a couple of years the market would force companies to give pay raises, but this year? Unlikely.

You have good intentions and sometimes good thoughts. A part of me actually feels sorry for you because you sometimes seem as though your standing on a street corner somewhere on a soapbox and you're babbling your arse off while people pass by and purposely ignore you.

Now, with that statement about thinking like slaves, you can take that and shove it up your arse. I'm blessed to work for such a good company and WE as a company have VERY good employer provided benefits and I can assure you that the powers that be at my company will always make sure they provide the best for the employees.

It should not cost $15000 for an individual.

You can look at my other thread where I posted an actual group quote for a family in Louisiana and it was $15 grand for a very high deductible.

I encourage you to get a quote of your own and compare. Why would you want to forego $5000 in tax credits? Why take the risk that things change with your employer?

Why would anyone not want to own their own policy???

Eastern airline employees had great insurance and so did folks at American Motors.

If your company has good "conservsative" leadership and this bill is passed they will not let you be so stupid to pass up the opportunity to get $5000 a year and your own policy.

How many layoffs were there by oil and gas companies in Texas in 2015?
