I'm 30 and I've actually never watched one, and I don't really see the allure of it.

I saw Bill Clinton's first one in school. Missed all the others.

By the way, the writer of that article, is notorious for inaccurate information and poor conclusions to fit his own bias; he's the worst writer at Fox.

And if we're understandably criticizing the NYT's Perry article because of one source's speculation, then how can people not criticized an article whose primary source is a girl who posted on Facebook and her mother?

Like most of Starnes' articles, he didn't actually get the other side's story (maybe the girl was told she has to do her SCHOOL work in SCHOOL). That's just terrible journalism, even if it's disguised as an opinion piece.

Everyone of them should be fired.

Let's fire them all because some girl posted something on Facebook that hasn't been verified.

Even so, what if they did that for Obama too? I mean in the middle of the 9/11 attacks, I still had to complete work in some classes (not my History class though). And that was a far more historically signicant day than an inauguration.

whether you are happy about it or not) should be watched to honor and support the president of The United States of America (no matter who it is)

Obviously not - if it's verified.

For me? Fireable then, fireable now.

Yes, more historically significant, but not specified in the Constitution and something you can put on your calendar 4 years in advance.

And maybe they should watch it in Civics courses, but I see no reason to forego a Calculus lesson for something that can be DVR'd and watched later--especially since, like me, some people don't have an interest in the ceremony itself.

So 1 school has "banned" it?

You might want to fix your title......but that would ruin the circle jerk.

Carry on..

This isn't the Grammys. And, if a kid is in Kindergarten in an inauguration year - he's going to have, what, 4 inaugurations at most.

I can even see skipping one if a guy is re-elected. But, part of our problem is that we want to eschew all the things that make our culture unique (and superior). This is one of those things.

I've even been showing Senate confirmation hearings. It was a first for me to get to watch them.

During the Obama inauguration, I had students ask me if I voted for Obama. When I replied no, they asked why I was watching. I told them it is a historical event, and like it or not. He is the president. We as a nation have forgotten to teach our kids to lose with dignity.

Well done sir.

There's apparently a group setting up a jumbotron in the quad tomorrow for viewing, should be pretty damn interesting.

So their counter is "punish the kids!"

=====

When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers
Who would hurt the children in any way they could
By pouring their derision
Upon anything we did
Exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

But in the town it was well known
When they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives would thrash them
Within inches of their lives

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teacher, leave those kids alone
Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone

All in all, it's just another brick in the wall
All in all, you're just another brick in the wall

I worked for one the largest oil & gas companies in the world. The company and majority of employees didn't support Odama. Both of Obama's inaugurations were broadcast on company TVs and there were even gathering to honor the moment.

Liberals are weak and intolerant people.

Things like this is the reason young people have zero respect for authority. I would pull my kid out of school and let him watch it at home and give him a brief history lesson.
