The point of this thread is that most people on here and supporting these players use the excuse of free speech and the constitution. They clearly have no idea what that protection is

Except these players and every other American are protected by the constitution so wtf are you talking about?

It's absolutely insane. And then they get mad that the owners won't "make an example out of them". Wut

Link? Point me to where it says this in their contract agreements.

Protected from the government. Not their bosses. I mean, wow.

And that's within their rights too.

Just as it's within my rights to not buy the product they're selling if I so choose.

you don't really know how most NFL contracts work, do you? They aren't guaranteed. A player can be waived or cut for any reason whatsoever.

Is your statement less ignorant on other boards?

Maybe the notion of Freedom of Speech might be slightly broader than the legal protections given by the Constitution.

Freedom of speech has consequences.

It HAS to be that way, otherwise there IS no free speech. It has to apply to all parties equally. What gives what you have to say priority over what I have to say? And vice versa.

I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about all this.

I mean sure, the owners could cut them all, but they aren't.

You can quit watching all you want. I just don't understand why so many on here can't accept that maybe these folks disagree with them and that's fine.

You're the ignorant one. Every American citizen is protected by the constitution. If on the job, you adhere to company policy or face the consequences. In the case of the NFL, owners aren't firing players for protesting; this thread was irrelevant on MSB. Only fricktards are calling for players to be forced to stand or be fired because "muh flag".

It's sad I have to spell this out for you.

Actually no. The reasons they can be released are written in their contracts. Which is why I asked where in their contracts it says they have no right to make political statements.

Other than the odd Saints game, I haven't watched the NFL in years. And that has nothing to do with social issues. It's because the product is crap.

I make it a point to go to a movie on Super Bowl Sunday. It's great, you have the theater to yourself, no concession lines, no traffic getting there.

Every American is protected by the constitution. The constitution says "congress shall make no law". Would firing by a team owner or a policy by the NFL violate that constitutional provision?
