To the older posters here, has this been a common tactic that has been used for decades? Or is this something new?

I never really paid attention to protests in the past so I really don't know.

Its happened to me a few times here

The problem is that unless you are in the front you have no idea why traffic isnt moving. So if they are doing it to get their message out its not an effective way.

Yea but there isn't any traffic on 80 from Selma to Montgomery now, much less then. When you block an interstate at rush hour then you cease to go from being peaceful to disturbing the peace.

Non sequitur. They do not have the right to take other peoples rights away.

Big difference between marching down the road and standing in the middle of the road with the intent to block conveyance of other motorists.

Call Mr. Plow.
That's my name.
That name again is Mr. Plow.

Yep, in the first you are trying to accomplish something. In the last you are just trying to prevent your fellow citizens from accomplishing anything.

Actually it is not.

Peaceful protesting is lawful with one exception.

The exception for protests that are peaceful, is when a protestor is disobeying an immoral law or action, by an action against that immoral law or action, but in a peaceful way.
Examples would be...
When Ghandi walked to the sea to make salt (It was against British law for Indians to produce their own salt.
Remaining in your seat when told you had to give it up for someone of another race.

Breaking the law by interfering with others rights and breaking laws that have nothing to do with what you are protesting is not peaceful protesting

It's absolutely dangerous and illegal and should not be tolerated. But it's extremely effective at annoying the frick out of people, and that's what this breed of human specializes at.
