Top 3 cost of living in the entire US. 108,000 will have you living in a studio apartment and eating canned vegetables every night.

That won't get you shite out in Loudon which is the county where the ballers live. You could get a shitty condo in Rosslyn or live on H street like the other DC leeches.

If you're young though I'd do it although with kids it will get pricey quick! I thoroughly enjoyed my time in DC

I live in the eastern panhandle of WV. A few people I know commute to DC. Sucky commute but much more affordable and family friendly.

You could make at least 2X that (probably more) working for a defense or federal contractor in the area if you already have TS/SCI.

Was informed of the Martinsburg line when I first moved there. Thought it was a joke along with the slugging stories and HOV dummies.

Yeah only reason I'd take the job is bc it's within the WH. It's for strategic initiatives manager/director. Supposedly 155 is top max. Still doesn't sound like that would be great with 2 kids in private school.

150K is probably a bit below the median household income in both Fairfax and Montgomery Counties

No need for private schooling in DC area b/c the publics are really good. Private schools in that area are for the really wealthy.

If you live in the burbs, metro'ing each day will be over $10. Not sure how much daily parking is now at the metro stations. Knew a few that lived in VA and used VRE.

I will add that you can make substantial connections in DC, so can look at this as an investment as well.

I thought DC was a great place to live.

Agreed don't listen to people on here re: DC.

It's an absolutely awesome town. But it is horribly expensive.
