Private Schools Should be Privately Funded

Can someone please explain to me why publicly funded charter schools are a good idea? Honest question. I really want to hear opposing opinions to my own. IMO they are begging for corruption and waste of taxpayers dollars.
ETA: Because it came up I will add that I would be in full support of a tax break for property owners and rent payers (landlords pass on the taxes to their tenants) that send their child to a private school. No need to pay taxes for a government service your family opts out of.

Do you also support parents of kids going to private schools to be reimbursed for taxes paid to send their kids to public schools?

I'm with you. I also have questions about the separation of church and state on this as well since lots of southern private schools are religious.

Exactly. The government is much better with money.

I would be in support of a tax rebate for property owners that send their kids to private schools, yes.
ETA: property owners and those that pay their own rent, since property taxes are baked into rent.

They aren't. It's bullshite. It's basically we want your money, but we want to make our own rules.
The only plus, if there is one, is keeping a school open locally to a town who's parents can't drive 20 minutes to the next closest school everyday

Absolutely. Giving money to places like this is ripe for that sort of thing.
Example: We all agree the idea of higher education is a positive. Learning more, preparing more...there are tons of positives. So why don't we pay for people to go to college? GREAT idea! These institutions will manage their budget appropriately and there is NO WAY they will ever bloat their budget. All in the name of education, right? See TOPS.

So we should give it to private for profit companies instead that have shareholders to answer to and are actually encouraged to steal from the taxpayer?

They're not a good idea. They're just a chance that a kid living in the inner-city may not be sentenced to a grossly failing public education system. If the unions and school boards would be more concerned with educating children then with the lining their own pockets's, charters would become unnecessary.

Charter schools are owned by for profit companies that will cut corners, lie about attendance, and say whatever they need to to get paid. They don't give a flying frick about the kids education. They care about their stock price.

The public schools are institutionalized theft with no accountability. How's that different?

I pay for private (Catholic) school x's FOUR. I agree that I shouldn't have to pay taxes that go to local public schools that are complete garbage.

Because what you said isn't a true statement and what I said is.

How's that different than public schools again?

Look at how much money is spent on each child's education in Detroit, compare that to the illiteracy rate among students and tell me how what I said is wrong.

Lol public schools have their problems and some districts are totally corrupt, but public money should not be going to private companies for education.

I agree with your main point. Your supporting argument sucks arse.
