I think most consider it death by a thousand cuts.. but don't realize that in general regulations are a very very minor burden to businesses.

The only problem with that, is its subjective as soon hell. I think most people would agree with your statement but when it comes to particulars, we'll fight tooth and nail.

I work at a public facility related to marine transportation and the federal regs are a major hamstring.

Do the regs provide any real value? More often than people believe federal and state agencies take in comments when rules are being revised.. and it's extremely common for those revisions to be based on "stakeholder" input.

There's a pretty good reason for regulation of antibiotics, though. And the landowners and government both agreed on the $2,400 cost.. it was a transaction.. why would anyone have a problem with that?

The power to legislate was supposed to belong with the Congress. Can't get enough support to pass legislation? Too bad. That never should have been circumvented in favor of the administrative state. It's supposed to be a severely limited federal government, not a government that is able to enforce every "good" idea it comes up with via rule makings.

ETA: I love the smug as shite assertion that us plebes don't know anything about regulation. What parts of the APA do you practice with? I practice in one of the most highly regulated fields of law and I can tell you first hand that we are governed by politically motivated bureaucrats. That kind of attitude is why we are ready to roll on you people.
