Pres. TRUMP's inroads with workers has union leaders scrambling & dems melting!

Donald J. Trump redrew the electoral map with his rousing economic nationalism and evocation of a lost industrial age. It was a message that drew many union members to his cause. And now it is upending the alliances and tactics of the labor movement itself.
quote:
The episode is just one sign of the sudden shifts buffeting the labor movement. Some unions, even if traditionally Democratic, have aims that align with Mr. Trump’s stated priorities: building infrastructure, rewriting trade agreements, blocking an exodus of jobs. But union leaders are in many cases scrambling to get in step with members who responded to his pro-worker rhetoric — and to tap into that energy. The dynamic was on display earlier this week, when some employees at Boeing’s South Carolina facilities, which Mr. Trump visited Friday, spoke of a rising feeling of empowerment tied to the president’s posture and cited it as a factor in their vote for a union. (The union vote failed.)
quote:
They appear to have had the desired effect. Dennis Williams, head of the United Auto Workers union, which endorsed Mrs. Clinton, has professed eagerness to meet with Mr. Trump to discuss how they might undo Nafta and protect American jobs. “He’s the first president that has addressed this issue, and I’m going to give him kudos for that,” Mr. Williams said at a round-table discussion with reporters in Detroit on Thursday.
Other unions may also have reason to do business with the White House. Consider the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which also endorsed Mrs. Clinton. Some portion of the union, namely its freight railroad workers, is heavily dependent on coal, and union officials say members in that sector voted heavily for Mr. Trump because he refused to foreclose on its role in the national economy.
Do yall remember when the board libs kept calling us crazy for thinking Clinton's comments about coal miners was going to cost her the election? Guess what? Those comments did hurt her bigly, and I bet liberals are really regretting going full retard on the "climate change" & "green energy" stuff now.

In response, progressives have groused that some blue-collar unions are willing to sell their souls for a few thousand jobs. They say that members who enthuse about the president’s ostensible victories for workers, like his efforts to block the manufacturer Carrier from sending jobs to Mexico from Indiana, are utterly blinkered. “Trickle-down economics dressed in populist garb is still trickle-down economics,” wrote Robert B. Reich, labor secretary under President Bill Clinton.
The butthurt & fear among progressives is real. When Pres. TRUMP's policies start producing real results in the working class communities the union vote will split, and without a strong union voting block to back them the democratic party as we know it will be done. Hopefully, that happens before the 2018 midterms, so the Rs can have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and get control of 1 or more state legislatures.

Let's hope.
It's why he got our votes

A bunch of union workers woke up one day and realized they were out of a job and were also racists for not liking it. I hope the libs keep going further left. It'll be the death of that truly racist, unAmerican, anti-American party known as the DNC.

The democratic party isn't going to die, but the "democratic party as we know it" (which is exactly like your description) will die, and hopefully whatever rises from its ashes will love America and have a little common sense.

Even the smart liberals are dumasses. Voting for someone promising to save your job is "selling your soul". Voting for someone that says "those jobs are gone forever and they're not coming back" and "we will kill coal", well that is the proper vote for a blue collar worker or coal miner, duh.

Liberals have a problem. They've built a coalition on the idea that white men are the problem........unions are heavily white.......men.....

DNC isn't that worried because the RNC will go right back to globalism after Trump moves on. McConnell, Ryan, McCain will F this up with a quickness and the game will go on. Trump and the people against the world.
No because VP Pence is the next in line and he will be Trump without the fun stuff (i.e scandals, cool nicknames, etc). The political board is being rearranged and if the dems don't change tactics there won't be a place for them at that board.

I agree. The only thing worse than a 2 party system is a 1 party system. The left really needs to hit the breaks on their extreme tilt.

Yeah their whole strategy of making ~50% of the largest subgroup of the population (white ppl) to score a few more percentage points with subgroups (i.e african americans and muslim americans) was f***ing stupid.

You know what I think woke a lot of white people up? The ones who weren't really that conservative?
The realization by watching their social media and watching college campuses that minority leftists don't give two fricks about if you're a white liberal or a white conservative. They consider you BOTH to be the devil.
Then, those same white folks looked up and noticed that the Democratic party, if not in bed with those fricks, were at least fixing their sheets.
That's what's funny about them saying, "hey, the KKK loves Trump.........doesn't that worry you"?
Well, if ya wanna go down that road............

The race stuff hurt the dems, but what doomed the dems was their economic message. Their energy and economic policies would do collateral damage outside of the coal, oil and gas industries, and they were either too stupid or stubborn to realize that. If they had listend to Bill Clinton's advice she probably would have won because at the end of the day it is still "all about the economy stupid."
