Pramila Jayapal says we need a sanctuary country, not just sanctuary cities

Pramila Jayapal said sanctuary cities are not enough - we need an entire country of sanctuary. She said our #1 priority should be to prevent all deportations and ensure that anyone who wants to immigrate here and live here, is able to without any fear.
She said this is the #1 most important issue, protecting immigrants and people of color in a time where our president is someone who hates immigrants and people of color and wants them gone.
My question for Pramila Jayapal is if you think all deportations should end then what is the point of having a border at all.

I think the reasoning is that the West, in general, has "oppressed" the rest of the world and subsequently have a moral obligation to help out any person of an oppressed extraction.
