OTOH it was provoked. I can understand who provoked it, and why it happened. Uncivil behavior begets uncivil behavior. Stupid games get stupid rewards.

This is a case where the reporter has made it crystal clear he is rabidly partisan. He instigated the episode. He was intruding in a separate private scheduled interview. Nonetheless, the first 2-3 responses to him were quite polite. However, when he shoved the recorder in the candidate's face again, Gianforte went off.

IF this is the accurate account of what happened, that's where I stand as well.

Is there any video?

ok with politicians attacking reporters bc of the way they report

Are you OK with the "way they report?" Does anyone who calls himself a 'reporter' have the right to invade your private space, badger you with questions that have been asked and answered previously, disregard your polite responses, ignore your referrals to another person or another time, stuff a recorder in your face?

This is not 'journalism' - this is political paparazzi. These dipshits are all out for provoking something, not 'reporting' something. First, the 'question' he was aggressively demanding an answer to was known to anyone interested in the matter. It had been answered for weeks, on a daily basis.

This nutjob was only interested in provoking an incident at a private BBQ. If this had been a DEM event, the SEIU would have had thugs in the area to prevent anyone from getting close to the 'principal.'

Show us you outrage at threats of violence toward conservative reporters wanting to get close to leaders of a protest.

The man had a completely human reaction to some punk arse birth who had been stalking him for weeks. Then he apologized for not being a Saint.

Screw you and all your hypocritical bullshite.

Hey bud, I'm pretty conservative. But I'm just sick and frick and tired of the blind partisanship on this site. People don't see right from wrong. They see a liberal reporter getting his arse handed to him and trip over themselves to call him a pussy. Same goes for just about anything in this forum.

But this isn't something the GOP needs to be proud of either.

Obviously the Rep was out of bounds and violence shouldn't be a solution.

BS
That snarky little sissy got what he deserved. In fact, IMO he got off light.

I guess that's a "yes" to being funny to attack a reporter.
