Art. II Section III
He is required only to give the Congress a periodic report on the state of the nation.
There is no Constitutional parameters on how he does so, where, or when. All of that comes from tradition.

He seriously needs to consider simply preparing a written state of the union address and sending it in written form to the Congress.
The shite show of these grandstanding events, with the “opposition” having their own televised “response” presentation, and the made for tv clap/frown, sit/stand minstrels has outlived its usefulness and actually does harm to our republic. It only contributes more rancor, and more cult of personality type political abasement.
