Going from four years as Speaker to four years in the powerless role of minority leader, and now facing two more years in the latter role, she is now not much more than an asterisk on the political scene. Even the Washington Post has rolled up the red carpet they used to lay down for her interviews.
Harry Reid is about to undergo the same experience - after eight years as Senate Majority Leader, likely having erased from his mind the memory of the frustrations of being Senate Minority Leader. He is about to go from being "The Man" back to being "That Other Guy" and being reminded what McConnell has been going through for the last eight years. McConnell, having never known the power of being Senate Majority Leader, only being that other guy, will wake up on the morning of January 3rd and discover what it's like to be Harry Reid.
Pelosi and Reid should go have a few drinks and tell each other it's all just a bad dream and they'll be waking up soon.
