This is a perfect example of Vegas not knowing shite. First of all the line is made based on the bettors' activity. We always hear people who are amazed when Vegas gets the line correct in big games and people suggest they are prescient. They aren't anyone with a modest knowledge of events who makes lines on hundreds of events a month will often hit on at least 20%.

what? How does a line open each week with no betting history? Lines do however very slightly fluctuate throughout the week depending on public betting.
Aside from using very knowledgeable oddsmakers, Vegas essentially assigns a power ranking to each team, uses tons of algorithms to then set lines, and finally tweaks them as they see fit. Trust me, they know a lot more than “shite”

Very true for the initial hack. However, the line can/will be significantly altered in order to keep equal money on each side of the line. It’s how Vegas makes money every time. They don’t need to be close with the line at the end. They just need equal money on each side.
