It's almost like the forgotten city in Louisiana.

In case anyone forgot about Alive, check out the power point presentation in this link LINK

It's so unbelievably crazy fantastically ludicrous for this city that it baffles the mind as to how anyone could have thought that such a project made sense for this city.

ALIVE was ridiculous.

Sadly, it was paired up with numerous infrastructure upgrades that the city still needs and presented to voters as an "all or nothing" bond package.

This. Kip thought that there was no way the people of Baton Rouge would vote against synchronizing lights and upgrading the sewer system just to stop his pet project. He was wrong

I kind of have to wonder what might have been had that ballot initiative gone the other way. The building boom we've had downtown was almost unthinkable back then. I almost kind of wish it had gone through just to see what it would have actually amounted to. Maybe it was just crazy enough to be successful

It was just too big for a city that size and would have been too costly to keep up. He should have proposed a large outdoor amphitheater and called it a day. That would have been more than sufficient.

And you consider BR worse than Alex? Having lived in both for a number of years, I just don't see it. We can throw in the meth labs from Livingston if that will make it more appealing.

My dad was at the Halloween party at the Country Club of Louisiana years ago when Kip showed up wearing a KKK robe and yelled "Where all da white women at?" My dad was apparently one of the few people who found that hilarious and not uncomfrotable

What? EBR has lower taxes than neighboring Livingston Parish and the best credit rating in the state.

It's nice to see Downtown Baton Rouge become better. When I was at LSU 92-98 Downtown was dead and crime was horrible.

Agreed. The future is now, and it is bright. Here's a link to many of the recently completed, planned, and currently underway projects around downtown:
