Global warming has been politicized. That is absolutely the truth.
But this blanket statement is utterly retarded.

“We have got to get past this false debate about whether climate change is real. We have to get past that false debate so we can have the real debate about what we’re going to do to fix it,” he said.
Why do we have to get past the one to have the other?
Why does "science" need to have all of us rednecks on board in order to come up with the answers?
Do they lack funding? Couldn't Zuckerberg and Gates provide the funding?
They really just want us to submit to them and never question them.
If not, they would already have come up with convincing arguments and workable solutions.

Really, who stands to gain regarding climate change legislation?
Global warming is a faux outrage perpetrated by the left. The predictions in the 70's started, and it failed. The Gore predictions in the 2000's also failed. Face it, you're hitching your next cause to a political ponzi scheme.
The idea that some idiots believe that taxation on cars in the US will all of a sudden stop CO2 emissions is liberal derangement at it's finest.

Hell, the fact that global warming had to be changed to "climate change" is #1 proof of that false bag of goods you purchased.
And we are, in fact, currently within a global cooling period. Now don't freak out progs, it's a natural cyclical thing. Your smart car has nothing to do with it.

You're politicizing it as much as the people you hate FWIW
It is possible to discuss it, and the actual science behind it, without politicizing it. Both sides just get so emotional about it, it doesn't seem possible.
Your blanket statement is just as dumb as the "settled science" idiots.

Pepsi challenge for skeptics: tell me the story of how "global warming" was "changed" to "climate change" without using a single sentence in passive voice.

It's not a global warming..err climate change thread until the graph is posted where 1 degree is charted over 120 years to show a massive scary rise
Good shite

Here you go
quote:
But global warming became the dominant popular term in June 1988, when NASA scientist James E. Hansen had testified to Congress about climate, specifically referring to global warming. He said: "global warming has reached a level such that we can ascribe with a high degree of confidence a cause and effect relationship between the greenhouse effect and the observed warming."4 Hansen's testimony was very widely reported in popular and business media, and after that popular use of the term global warming exploded. Global change never gained traction in either the scientific literature or the popular media.
quote:
But temperature change itself isn't the most severe effect of changing climate. Changes to precipitation patterns and sea level are likely to have much greater human impact than the higher temperatures alone. For this reason, scientific research on climate change encompasses far more than surface temperature change. So "global climate change" is the more scientifically accurate term. Like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we've chosen to emphasize global climate change on this website, and not global warming.
Gotta find the most impactful language to rally your base for more taxes.

We can't have a discussion about science with people that refuse to use the scientific method. There is as much if not more evidence that people don't cause climate change or have a very small impact on it as there is evidence that people are making it happen.
Global Warming/Climate Change is the religion of the "atheist" left. Now, I don't really care that it's their religion except that they want to force it on the rest of us and rob our children and grandchildren to fund it. This is so ironic and utterly hypocritical, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I wished the left was as passionate about the science (real science) of curing cancer as they are about political science of climate change.

This goes both ways. Science should never be settled. Yet both sides continue to try and push it as settled.

This is what I mean.
Why can you all not have a discussion about this without politicizing it? This is a question for both sides.

OP reminded me of a quote from the Jurassic Park novel said by Ian Malcolm (Mathmetician/Jeff Golblum in the film)
As an aside, my favorite Malcolm quote from the book:
quote:
“But now science is the belief system that is hundreds of years old. And, like the medieval system before it, science is starting not to fit the world any more. Science has attained so much power that its practical limits begin to be apparent. Largely through science, billions of us live in one small world, densely packed and intercommunicating. But science cannot help us decide what to do with that world, or how to live. Science can make a nuclear reactor, but it cannot tell us not to build it. Science can make pesticide, but cannot tell us not to use it. And our world starts to seem polluted in fundamental ways---air, and water, and land---because of ungovernable science.”
As an aside, my favorite Malcolm quote from the book:
quote:
“You know what's wrong with scientific power? It's a form of inherited wealth. And you know what assholes congenitally rich people are.”

What I find even funnier is how anyone can be confused or ignorant enough to think there is somehow a connection between abortion and climate change.
Or how someone can be stupid enough to comment on a SCIENCE march, as if it was strictly limited to a CLIMATE CHANGE march?
